~ Mums the Word ~

I hope all of you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather like we are. After a weekend of cloudy skies and rain, the past couple of days have been beyond gorgeous. Way to pretty to be inside..
I'm still trying to dress the outside of the shop up for fall. Over the course of the summer I lost the trees that stood on each side of the arbor, I was heart sick, they had been there for many years. Any hoo... while  grocery shopping the other day I spotted these beautiful mums. Perfect! The space has felt  a tad empty. I think this is the perfect solution.
I wanted and needed something with a bit of height to it, the ornamental grass was the answer. Just now showing off their buds, once in full bloom I'll have the needed punch of color as well.

Naturally, Murphy had to join us for the outside decorating. ;-)
I'm so glad you stopped by to see a bit more of the outside fall shop decor, still a bit early to add the pumpkins, those are next on the list of things to do.
Susan, thank you for hosting each week. I'm off to see all the other beautiful outdoor participants.

Oh yes, When the mums bloom it will be so beautiful. I had to laugh when I read the title of your post. I had been thinking I would do a post with that title. Great minds think alike, ha-ha!

Oh my goodness ... great minds think alike. I made a visit to my local nursery yesterday and today I planted over a dozen mums outside ... some in pots. I also brought a couple of them into the house to add to my Fall decor. Its always a little hard for me to rip out the summer annuals but, they were looking a little worse for wear and it was time. Your urns look gorgeous ... the mums will just be stunning when the buds open.

Sorry about your trees, I know how you feel. We had to replace four shrubs in our urns on the front. It was a hard summer for the plants. I think your mums and tall grass pots look great. They will give you great fall color. Great blog, I'm your newest follower.

Love the look! You are smart to get the mums while still in the bud stage as they will last longer. I admired the mums, pumpkins and ornamental cabbages recently, but put off buying them as we are suppose to have some more very warm weather in the future.

No, no..Lynne, it's NOT to early to put out pumpkins! Not at all. You should add them..it's officially Fall on Friday..and today is Wednesday! Go for it. I love the colors of Fall and what better way to start than with pumpkins and Mums..
Unfortunately I bought mine in full bloom. The woman ahead of me bought all the ones just beginning to bud. Ah well.. :)

I've seen those Mums with the grass in them at Lowes and Home Depot. They are so pretty! Sorry you lost your trees. That's a big bummer for sure! This looks really great and inviting..just the kind of place I would want to stop and shop. :))
