Your Prayers Mean the World to Us !!

We're finally home and things are much better for the time being. A week ago, we made an emergency run to the hospital. I'm not sure if many of you know, last August my husband was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. This past week his blood work wasn't the best. His coumadin level was off the charts, his potassium level had bottomed out.. he was in trouble. He started having trouble breathing and we made a mad dash to the hospital. After 5 days in the hospital and them taking 10 pounds of fluid off he's finally feeling better. It's been quite a roller coaster ride of emotions. I can't thank you enough for all your prayers and emails. They mean the world to us. I promise to get around to each and everyone of you to thank you personally, please be patient with me, there are quite a few of them. :-) Give me a couple of days and I'll be back to full blogging mode. With much love and appreciation hugs ~lynne~

Foodie Friday and Comfort Food

I'm so excited to be participating in the first Foodie Friday. Hosted by our esteemed Gollum over at http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com/ . I had to smile to myself the other day when Gollum was talking about Dr. Gollum thinking this means real food.. that's what I call it around here when I cook. Mr. P. doesn't eat a whole lot, so there's no actual cooking per say.. So, maybe between me joining in Foodie Friday and tablescaping , I'll cook more and maybe he'll eat more.. :-)

I just had to include the incredible shot of the urn once again.. :-) You might need some salt and pepper....

Oh my.. the ladybug is still around.. anyone figure it out yet? :-))

Yummy.. fried chicken...Layered in a glass dish on the most delicate of feet..Doesn't this look delicious? Feel free to grab yourself a piece. I actually have more in the oven keeping it warm for all my guests.
Now, I see a hole in the dish of chicken ..looks like Mr. P might have grabbed the wing.. ummm

Look who decided to join us this week. Miss Scooter. She's waiting oh so patiently. Hoping, really hoping, I'll turn my back so she can grab a piece of chicken.. But, as you can see Miss Scooter is a tad over weight (too many treats for doing her tricks), so she can't have a morsel of chicken.

Let's add some mashed potatoes.. I would have mashed potatoes with every meal if it were possible.

Close up...

I chose to add the antique green bowl for dessert.

Doesn't this look delicious? Butterfly sliced cre'me cake, sugar free of course. Mr. P. can't have sugar..sorry girls have to bake for the man of the house.. lol

Miss Scooter has even crossed her little paw, thinking I might cave because she's being such a lady.. sorry darling no dice.. :-)) Your mama still loves you ! You just can't have any chicken..

Yummy... this is delicious. My original plan was to put some strawberries on it. Best layed plans..The frozen ones were out of stock, the fresh ones looked days old.. so.. I had to punt, grab a fork, a hot cup of coffee and just go for it...lol.. Please join me for some.

Now, has anyone figured out what our cute little lady bug actually is? See her clear little stick? Drum roll please...... She's a Swizzle Stirrer. Had any of you guessed? In my original post I told you she was a gift from my daughter. I cherish these little beauties..

This was just the most fun I've had in a long time. I totally forgot until after the meal was over to take photos of the sweet corn and the homemade biscuits.. sure hope you didn't miss them.. lol
A big thank you to Gollum for hosting the first Foodie Friday. Don't forget to swing over to check out a full list of participants.
Now, I'm off to see the other wonderful Foodie Friday posts. hugs ~lynne~

Blue Monday with Blue and White in Your Home

Sally from http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ hosts Blue Monday. If you have a love of Blue be sure to swing over for a full list of participants. You're in for a treat, a full Monday of Blue. With the internet down most of the day, I got busy around here and got "most" of my work done so I could sit and do a bit of reading. I'm a bit behind with all the magazines I receive and the books I have. Have you seen the latest publication of Country Sampler? The cover alone is enough to draw you in. Once you open the cover you're in for a treat. Don't you love the blue and yellow quilt? It is so refreshing and so spring like. I've made many quilts over the years, but never a blue and yellow one. I believe this is going on the list of things to do. :-))

With the inspiration of the blue on the cover I got busy and pulled some more of my blue out. It's time to bring a bit of lightness into the living area.

Normally, I lay a book down to decorate. This time I chose to use a plate stand and elevate the book. If you haven't picked this book up, you're in for a treat. By the editors of Victoria Magazine full of delightful pictures and a great read.

I'm not sure what this beautiful blue piece is..I just remember when I saw it many years ago I fell in love with it... it is so unique. I'm curious, what would you call it? I'll be interested in hearing what you have to say.

I've had the Fenton shoe for many years. Isn't it just the sweetest little thing? :-)) The lace is exquisite. I think it's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. :-))

What a beautiful glow the sun puts on the table. Sally thanks for hosting another great Blue Monday..now I'm off to see more beautiful blue.. see you there.. :-) hugs ~lynne~

Outdoor Wednesday and a Few Pot Shots of Summer

Once again it's Wednesday and that means Outdoor Wednesday. Hosted by Susan over at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Be sure to scoot on over for a full list of participants of great outdoor spaces. Thank you Susan for hosting another Outdoor Wednesday. We live in small town U.S.A. quite a few miles from an ocean. But for some reason the water draws my daughter in like a magnet. She loves anything related to the ocean. She's visited many of the lighthouses and enjoys their beauty and history. Along the way her and the kids always manage to have a great time. Last summer my daugher and the grandchildren took a trip to Florida. These are a few of the random shots she sent back via the internet and her cell phone.

I can only imagine getting on a sailboat and sailing away... :-))

My Catie's name for this was Crooked River Light.

Bailey enjoying the aquarium full of octopus.
Storm clouds moving in didn't detour their fun..
Sandcastles were continued to be built..
Melanie our granddaugher and a friend that traveled with them enjoying the great ocean waves.
Be sure to check out the rest of the "great" Outdoor Wednesday posts over at
http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. I'm off myself to check them out, see you there.. hugs ~lynne~

Not for the Faint of Heart

Hubby had a doctor's appointment today and after taking him 2 weeks ago and waiting 2 hours to see the doctor, I knew to mark the full day off the calendar today. No tax clients for me.. Once again we waited another 2 hours for him to get his first cataract removed. Now, I ask you. Why do they bother making appointments for us to keep, if they aren't going to keep theirs? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm happy to report he did just fine, I take him on Tuesday for his post op. But I digress. This is not a post about hubby's doctors appointments.
Once we got home and I got him settled I put my wheels in motion. Not one to sit idle I headed downstairs to the office to get busy.
One thing I've learned after all the water damage we had in August, is that I don't have to hang onto "everything". We've been self employed all our married life and have had a lot of paperwork over the years.. Well, today was a day to purge "more" of the paperwork. I got little black box out , fondly known as a shredder and got to work. Little black box churned and churned..

Much to my dismay, little black box churned so much he burnt himself out. Yes. he quit. There were no negotiations. He just up and quit.. walked right off the job. Now, I ask you .. How could he do this to me? Right in the "middle" of a big job. Is there no communication any more ? Does one not respect their employer any more? Apparently not.. :-(
No wonder little black box walked off the job. Look at this bag of shredding. Bless his little heart he was just worn out. ( I almost felt sorry for him, but I still had a ton of work to do). lol
So.. out comes the back up. Little white box with great white teeth.
Little white box with great white teeth got right to work.....
Little white box with great white teeth shredded and shredded and shredded....
Until at last, we had another bag of shredding.
As a final report: There are many files to go, but I progress is being made. I hope to have 1 full file cabinet completely empty by the end of the week. That leaves 3 more file cabinets to go my friends. Many of you have been asking when I plan to post the updates on the office makeover. I hope to have things ready to go soon. I'm sure you're wondering what does purging files have to do with showing the makeover after the water damage? Not a lot really.. just one of those little idiosyncrasy's I have. I want everything in order. lol
So...back to work for me... hugs ~lynne~

Blue Monday With A Few Memories

This is my second time participating in Blue Monday. Hosted by Sally over at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/. While there you'll find a full list of participants and all their wonderful blue. Thank you Sally for hosting another Monday full of beautiful blues. I want to thank all that came by yesterday in support of the "energizer bunny" recharging herself. The best way for me to be recharged is to spend time with our grandson. He's here almost every weekend, but I wanted to make today more special for him. So, we spent the day watching his favorite shows, playing Legos and naturally eating popcorn. lol Hubby, Mr. P. enjoyed the laughter and all of Bailey's creations. :-)) Later in the afternoon my daughter and I fixed lunch and visited the afternoon away. It was the most relaxing Sunday afternoon. Yes... girls, I'm definetly recharged and ready for the heavy work schedule I have this week. :-))

Now, onto to today's business.. :-) After the holidays once the fa-la-la came down I was looking for a new look on the hutch. I hadn't had many of the blue pieces out in awhile. Or if they had been out they were in a different area.. So one afternoon awhile back I got busy and changed things up a bit..lol
Most of you know I love, love, love lamps. Lamps can change the mood of a room. They can make a room romantic or in this case add a bit of whimsy. And in my case , can make my heat beat faster and the hands start to shake. I know then it's meant to be in my home. lol. I've had this lamp for a while. It doesn't stay in the same spot long. Nestled among the greenery are some darling blue pitchers. They were a gift from my Betty a few years back for my birthday. She knew how much I love the cobalt blue color.. They graduate in size from 2 1/2" to 5 1/2".
I couldn't possibly leave out the rooster bookends on the other end.. lol
On the first shelf you'll find this wonderful blue platter I found fairly recently. Bargain.. it screamed bargain and leaped right into my cart. Thankfully, nothing was broken in this leap. lol The round ball is a carpet ball or orb as some refer to them these days.
Don't you love these darling roosters? They are actually salt and pepper shakers..I'm sure you'll might find them on a tablescape in a future post. :-) The blue vase is another gift from my Betty. She certainly knew my tastes didn't she? My Betty has been gone now for 3 years. Oh how I miss her. So each gift is treasured more and more each day. They bring up the most wonderful memories.
Close up of the roosters cuddled almost hiding in the greenery.. Faux greenery, yes my friends . I use faux greenery! No fuss no muss.. no damage, but packs a big wallop of a punch to any vignette.
The glass plate was a gift from Mr. P. many years ago.. "just because" .. he always seemed to surprise me with gifts or cards "just because" .. I found the egg many years ago as well as the beautiful compote on gold feet.
A close up for you. This is the beautiful verse. I think it says it all..
Woman
was made from the rib of man
she was not created
from his head~
to top him
nor from his feet~
to be stepped upon.
She was made from his side~
to be equal to him:
from beneath his arm~
to be protected by him:
near his heart~
to be loved by him.
Anonymous

So, there you have it girls. Another vignette all decked out in blues. Don't forget to swing by http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ for a full list of participants.. I'll see you there.
hugs ~lynne~
