~ Bring Out the Sweaters and Crank Up Some Heat ~

The last couple of days around here have been almost letter perfect. Lots of sun and a slight breeze, perfect conditions for working in the yard and walking the dogs. Well folks it's down right chilly here today. I've already changed from Capri's and flip flops to jeans and tennis shoes. (now by this afternoon I may have the Capri's and flip flops back on. We live in Missouri, wait 5 minutes and the weather will change). I think this weather calls for some Cheesy Potato Soup. The ferns are loving the cooler temperatures, they're growing like crazy.
Many of you know I've struggled with my hydrangea bush putting off blooms. Each evening when I walk Murphy I check this baby out. The first night I squealed so loudly I scared a bunch of baby bunnies out from underneath the bush. I'm not sure who was more scared them or me, Murphy didn't even move. Hm mm not much of a watch dog is he? I'm glad he didn't bother with the little cuties, Mom and Pop bunny have moved them, they're now located up by the trumpet vine.
Look at this beauty now, can't tell you how excited I am. Let's not go overboard here, I have several blooms, but the bush certainly isn't "loaded" like a lot of yours are. That's all right I'll take what I can get and be one happy little camper.

Wouldn't you love to bottle up these beautiful colors in fabrics? The palette combination is so soft and serene.

The forecast for this evening is shocking, we're suppose to get down to 47. YIKES!! Guess there will be no seating on the porch this evening. Just can't see myself seating out here in a winter coat, gloves on the hands drinking hot coffee to keep warm, the warm days will return soon enough. So.... I'll be inside drinking hot coffee enjoying a good book and eating popcorn.

~ Warm Temperatures Call For Impromptu Breaks On the Porch ~

Including garden art as a centerpiece makes our impromptu break a little more fun. A stately gal I must say, she's had her hair done just for us. Tightly curled coif is perfect for a windy day on the porch.
Join Chelsea and myself for a cool refreshing drink.
To quench your thirst a cool refreshing drink served up in a margarita glass, topped off with a fresh strawberry.
The Boston fern takes center stage as our centerpiece with Miss Chelsea hiding behind the shaded nook of the leaves. Ferns play a  major role in mythology, as well as being used for medicine and art. They're artful beauty is a healing source for my soul each time I look at them.
Sometimes it's fun to bring out the silver and mix it with crystal for an impromptu setting, no tablecloth just the diamond shaped center of the table to make it all pop.
Dip a strawberry in the sugar for a burst of sweet juicy flavor, only fingers need here.

The bracelet style beaded napkin ring holder gracefully holds the red and white napkins.

Please help yourself.

Sit back and enjoy.

~ I'm Still Working On the Front Porch ~

Hi everyone, did you survive the three day weekend? Did you over eat and over play? Ours was really quiet around here. Some of the projects I had up my sleeve went by the wayside. I would get started and boom head off in another direction. Do you ever do that? I do more often than not lately, my mind gets to racing way ahead of itself.
Do you have your porch all dressed up for the long Summer month's ahead? Well this girl is still working on hers. I'm trying to go in a timeless direction, one that might last a few years. OK, so in the past I've kept the cushions way beyond their lifespan, this year I've been a lot more selective. If I don't start making a decision soon all the pillows and cushions will be gone and it will be time to put it all away for Winter, so this week by golly things are going to get finished up.
I've had the iron planter for many years, originally green I sprayed it black a couple of years ago. I love the way the chartreuse green color of the Sweet Potato Vine pops. The gazing ball was a Christmas gift from one of the Grands a few years back, the bright cobalt blue adds another dimension to the arrangement.

I ran across these pillows, fell in love with the color, I'm not too sure about the design.

In the process of taking pictures I noticed movement down below the arbor covering the shop. Look who came for a visit. Isn't he adorable?
Look at those Thumper legs, bet he could pack a wallop.
 But I digress, back to business here. I added another Sweet Potato Vine in the cast iron planter, looking for a pedestal to sit it on, I think the height is needed in the corner. The bench was originally purchased for Grandma's room, at that time it was white with pink cushions. Quite a while back I pulled it out onto the porch and gave it a fresh coat of black paint. Now my dilemma, do I cover up the lattice seat with a beautiful cushion or leave it be?  {sigh}

I've added a beautiful impatient plant to one of the shelves, won't be long they'll be spilling over the edge.
 A few of these...
I think you can see what color direction I'm taking. I have a lot more tweaking to do to the baker's rack, I'll share that once I'm finished.
I spend many hours on the front porch each evening watching the Boston Fern's swing in the breeze, so I'd like to have the front porch dressed as an outside room. I'll be making a few trips from the inside of the house to the front porch, love putting rooms together.
So... I'm back to trying to narrow down the decision to this print or a solid or possibly both ....hmmmm I hope you come back to see what direction I've gone. Any guesses?
Hope you all have a fabulous day.

~ Happy Memorial Day ~

I hope you've all had a wonderful fun-filled Memorial Weekend.
A time to reflect,
to remember those that have gone on before us,
to shed a few tears and
be thankful for those serving our country
that we might live in the land of the free.
