Christmas Left Overs

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
The dogs and I spent ours very quietly.
There was no laughter in the air, only
Christmas tunes with happy memories
flooding my heart and head.

Happy Anniversary Mr. P

36 Years Ago Today
 we said
I DO.
We began our
lives together. There were
so many fun times, we
lived each day as if
there would be no tomorrow,
never realizing
there is no tomorrow.
This past year has been full of so many
ups and downs. So many firsts with out
you by my side.

I miss this little boy grin so very much,
your loving arms wrapped around me.
I've made it through all the firsts this year
Mr. P with my faith. I know you're
whole and healthy living it up with
the Angels.

No one knows
more than I do, you were such
a gift to me for the past
35 years we were lucky
enough to share together.

 As we told each other
each night as we said good night.
I love you a bushel and a peck
and a hug around the neck.

Happy Anniversary honey,
I love  and miss you more
than you know.

Christmas At The Back Door

Happy Winter everyone! Our day has been yet another cloudy drizzly one. I'm beginning to think Mother Nature has forgotten her happy face and shining down on as brightly as I know she can. This is the shortest day and longest night of the year, maybe tomorrow will bring us a change with some sun. However, I believe the forecast says rain.

Plaid seems to have taken me over this season. I've placed and replaced every ribbon from years past with this delightful home spun plaid ribbon.

A Grandin Road Copy Cat Project

Do you ever get excited when you see something on a site and feel as though you just "have" to have it? I recently saw these screaming cute Santa boots over at Grandinroad's site. I immediately fell in love with them. I even went so far as to put them in the cart. Thankfully, my over taxed brain kicked in. The price was just way out of my budget and comfort zone.

Our 2014 Christmas Tree

It's hard to believe it's a week before Christmas. Do you have  your shopping all done and wrapped? Are you busy making holiday treats for unexpected guests? I hope you've enjoyed the process of preparing for the holiday season.

Christmas Vignettes In The Kitchen

After what seems like "forever" the sun peeked out of the clouds yesterday for a short bit. The last few days have been so cloudy in our area. Are you experiencing the same thing? I personally am ready for some bright blinding sun. Are you finishing up your shopping or decorating this weekend? I'll be working on another project I have in the works. It will be a while before I'll be able to share with you, I am pretty excited, it's turning out just as I've envisioned. So onto today's post.

Top This - Top Hat Christmas In The Sun Porch

The sun porch is always a happy room in our home, especially this time of the year. When I ordered product for the shop last Spring this darling top hat was meant to be on Bailey's tree in the sun porch.

Living Room Make Over For $22.33

Before we get too deep into the holiday season I thought I would share a change I made over the course of the summer. As many of you know one change leads to another a chain reaction of sorts. If we let it change can be daunting, I like to roll with the flow and let things happen slowly.  When I make changes I think long and hard about them, knowing the dollars have to stretch as far as they can. Many of those changes will be for a very long time.
For quite sometime

Christmas In The Kitchen

My goodness what a year makes. I was meeting myself coming and going a year ago trying to get the house ready for the kids to come home Christmas, never realizing what the rest of the year would bring. I've had a few long talks with myself, struggling to decorate for the holidays this year.  My inner self gave in. Mr. P knew that Christmas is my favorite season to decorate for. He would tease me mercilessly and I loved every bit of it. What I wouldn't give to hear that sweet voice this year.  I hope he would be pleased I've chosen to decorate the house this year for Christmas. Are you finding it hard to get motivated to decorate this year, or have you gone over the top or just kept things simple?
As I've said many times before the hutch in the breakfast room is one of my favorite pieces. You can load it up with a lot of decor or keep it light and airy.

Christmas Tea In the Sun Porch

Welcome back from the long Thanksgiving weekend. I'm sure you had your fair share of turkey with all the fixings. Mine was spent quietly here at home with the dogs. We stayed busy bringing Christmas up from storage. The first room I tackled was the sun porch. I've started adding pieces here and there.
Today I'll share

A Little Something New In The Sun Porch & Thanks To You!

If you been a long time follower or are new to the blog you know our sun porch is the gateway to our home. While the interior of my home leans towards the traditional side of decorating, the sun porch leans towards more of an Country French side with a slight twist of Cottage thrown in the mix. The marriage of the two blends beautifully and harmoniously to make me one happy gal.

Fall Touches In The Kitchen

With the rush of trying to get the shop ready for the Open House, (if you missed all of that you can catch up HERE, HERE and HERE), it dawned on me Thanksgiving is less than a week away. I thought I should share the small touches in the kitchen before I break it down and begin putting up the Christmas decor.

Christmas Open House Part 3, The Grand Finale

You folks sure know how to make a girls heart sing. Thanks so much for all of your kind comments about the Open House. I've enjoyed reading the comments on the blog and via email. A few years ago the only way to get the word out about the shop was through the standard form of advertising, now due to social media we can reach thousands if not more. Thank goodness for modern technology huh? Now onto some fun pictures.
The glass snowmen ornaments were a "huge" hit this year. I displayed them on the tree as well as the platter here with a few sprigs of red, mercury glass acorn ornaments and in another part of the shop in a different manner you'll see in just a bit. Don't they put a smile on your face?

Christmas Open House Part 2

Wow! What a weekend we had around the shop. Many many thanks to all that came out this past weekend. The crowd and mood of all that attended were so festive and so up beat, they were all in the mood to shop. The festive moods truly helped me get through this difficult weekend, knowing Mr. P was not here to share. So many many thanks.

Christmas Open House Part 1

It's been a busy couple of weeks around here. Putting the finishing touches on the outside decor, fluffing and tweaking decor inside the list goes on and on. I'll begin by saying this is one of the hardest Open House's I've ever prepared for.

About Town

Mother Nature is on a roll this year providing us with an abundance of beautiful fall color. The other day I forced myself to get out of the house and take a drive. While driving around town I couldn't help but notice all the vibrant colors scattered up and down the streets.
 The colors were

~ The Platter That Started It All ~

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I spent mine outside enjoying yet another beautiful Fall afternoon. I mowed Sunday afternoon, that makes 24 times I've mowed this year. The grass around here just won't stop growing. Is this my last time mowing? Guess Mother Nature will determine that.
Are you one of those who gets lucky and runs across a furniture piece an accessory or platter that speaks to you? By the looks of some of the vignettes around here QUITE a few things were lucky enough to come home with me.
Over the course of the last few weeks

If I Could Bottle It Up

If I could bottle up the weather to save it for the winter months ahead I sure would. The last couple of days have been incredibly beautiful, more Fall like.
The dogs and I have a pretty set routine,

Late Fall Boston Ferns on the Front Porch

After what seems like forever the rains have finally stopped the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. The temperatures are more Fall all like than early Winter like. As many of you know I love my front porch. The dogs and I spend most evenings out here, the cooler temperatures and continual rain has prevented that as of late.

Blue and White For Fall

This year has been one for the books in so many ways. Our summer was one of the most pleasant as far temperatures go that I can remember, Fall is starting out just as great. I've begun the process of putting a few touches of Fall here and there. This year I'm scaling way back with all the decorating, when you love the process you can't NOT do some decorating.
There's nothing more appealing to me

The Antique Tool Box Fall Centerpiece

I love this time of the year, you can sure feel Fall in the air today. It is one gorgeous morning in the Midwest. We had a bit of rain last night perfect for staying inside and playing with the Fall decor.

So Many Changes

There's been so many changes these past few months.
I'm still wondering where I belong these days,
wondering if I'm suppose to laugh, cry, shout
or have a good time. I'm slowly getting
my feet on solid ground. I stay pretty
close to home, it seems to be
my comfort zone, learning to be a
stronger me, and becoming
"very" OCD.

Signs of Summer in the Midwest

Summer has decided to return in full force here in the Midwest. Last week the temperatures felt more Fall like to me. Windows were open fresh breezes blew through the curtains, summer evenings were spent enjoying the creatures talk in the woods. Today they say we should have a heat index of close to a 110, that my friends is a little on the warm side. It's no secret I love my front porch, the view is incredible, the serene feeling I get is hard to explain. This past weekend they came in a baled the hay it's always a welcome sight to me when they're finished, this is my view right now.

Purple, Pink and Lavender Oh My!

It is hard to believe we've met the half way point of the year. Our temperatures certainly don't reflect it's the middle of July. This morning we had a brisk cool 58 degrees I believe a record breaker for us this time of the year, and they're calling for another one tonight. Today feels so fall like outside, I know it's coming soon enough so for now I'm going to enjoy the cooler temps of July.
With all the rains

Creating a Quite Spot

Hello everyone, I hope all of you had a wonderful Fourth this past weekend with friends and family. Mine was spent quietly, well sort of. I was busy moving things around, hanging and rehanging pictures, filling nail holes well You get the picture. Anything to keep my mind and hands busy. Miss Scooter did not miss a beat and followed me the whole day, love that I have her as a constant shadow.
While moving things around I decided

Family Wall Gallery

Quite a while back I did " a lot " of painting in the office and sewing area of the shop. Since then there have been many changes to those areas. Let's just say I've been putting some of my tools to good use around here, it fills the many hours in a day.

And the Yucca's Bloom

Many years ago while traveling the craft circuit we would do shows in Wichita, Kansas. Mr. P and I loved going to Wichita to do shows, the added bonus was being able to visit Aunt Myrtie and Uncle Burton. Usually Aunt Myrtie and I would take a stroll around the neighborhood during the evening hours, visiting the whole time, I loved this dear lady so much. The love was there from the beginning, we shared birthdays as well as many other similarities.

More Blues in the Kitchen

The last few days we've had constant rain around our area, it's been a blessing with the drought we've been in the last couple of years. Good for the crops not so good for working outside. I took the opportunity to play inside.
It's no secret I'm over the moon about blue and white. It seems to have taken over almost every room in the house. The kitchen table is one of those areas we can change things up easily and quickly.
Using a wooden tray or basket makes those transitions quickly adding texture and class to an otherwise flat surface. I gathered a few things to fit my mood. A gorgeous lantern for height fills the left side nicely. Adding flowers adds the softness the wooden tray and rough edges of the lantern need.

Classy wooden handle sets the mood for easy lifting and removing the tray for table to be decked out in beautiful dishes.
The jelly dish was a garage sale find a few years back, the weathered patina shows it's age, making one wonder how many hands have used the spoon into the beautiful crystal dish filled with jelly. I have to admit the patina didn't bother me at the time I took the picture, shortly after one cloudy Sunday afternoon I spent the day polishing all the silver in the house.

So there you have the breakfast room table decorated for Spring, one can only guess what the hot summer months might bring to the table. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments.
