"Happy Anniversary Mr. P. "

37 Years ago we began our marriage on a day much like yesterday. The day was cloudy and full of snow. Roads became slick very quickly, it didn't detour our wedding.

My Christmas Tree 2015

As I lay on the floor the other day looking up at the Christmas tree I began to reflect upon this past year. It's been a year of ups and downs. More downs than I care to count. The ups are coming slowly, I'm beginning to climb the rungs of the ladder to a happy place.

Christmas Touches in the Guest Bath

I'm not sure I've ever shared the guest bath. It's a nice sized bath that needed a bit of paint and yes those popcorn ceilings scrapped.

Christmas in the Kitchen

Once the construction began I stopped putting out any Christmas. There were too many other things going on to go over the top. Decorating the cream colored hutch in the breakfast area is always a favorite of mine. Since it's a ways from all of the boards coming and going it was safe to add some Christmas finery to it's already cute self.

Touches of Christmas in the Master Bedroom

There's something about a pillow that can change up an area in a short sweet second. They add character and life to a dull space. My love affair of pillows has gotten out of control. I had promised myself I wouldn't purchase any new holiday pillows this year, well that lasted about as long as the thought crossed my mind. You know how it is when a pillow speaks to you it has to go home with you. That's exactly what happened when I spotted this pillow last fall. Can you blame me?

Christmas in the Entry

In the middle of my Christmas decorating is when I decided to start scrapping the popcorn off the ceilings. I do have a tad of holiday cheer here and there, nothing as I had planned, a small amount is better than none. I've struggled more this year with holiday cheer than I did last. I know it's a process a journey one I'm working my way through. Taking out one of the many nativity scenes has helped, the meaning behind it is precious to me.

Guest Bedroom Remodel Begins

In my last post I shared the house is as decorated as it's going to be this year. Thanks to all for the well wishes, I finally got over the bug, it hung on for what seemed forever. I know many of you spent Thanksgiving with friends and family enjoying your fabulous meal of turkey and all the fixings.

Christmas in the Office

The month of November is behind us and December is in full swing. I had good intentions after the shops open house to get the house fully decorated for the holidays. I had planned to go all out and try to truly enjoy the season this year. My plans were changed ever so slightly when I was hit with some type of a bug. Not feeling good was certainly not on my agenda. Still not feeling 100%
I'm not one to give up and just give plugging along.

Christmas Open House

Owning a gift shop for the past 17 years has been one of the highlights of my life. After traveling over the road 14 years prior doing crafts and making everything from bears to birdhouse lamps I decided it was time to come off the road. Mr. P. was delighted to say the least. The first year after doing one of the largest shows I'd ever done in Fort Scott, Kansas I took the plunge and opened the doors to a some what might I say "empty" shop. The fever took and I've been at it ever since.

Fall Foliage Around Our Hometown Square

Happy November everyone! Did you have lots of trick or treaters last night? Can you even believe October has come and gone? I know many of us say it, boy this year has sure flown.
I haven't taken off and gone for just a ride in a very long time, usually I have a purpose in mind. This particular day I grabbed the camera, off I went. I took many pictures that sunny afternoon, I'll share just a highlight of my day.

Our small town of a little over 6000 residents is the county seat established in 1827. The court house is one of stature. Each year as fall approaches the trees share their beautiful foliage with all of us.

Greeting Your Trick or Treaters

This past week has been full
of more than one
challenges of life. For kicks
and grins to add
some fun and spice I
thought I would share how
I greeted my ghosts
and goblins in the past.
The world looks fabulous this time of year with all of it's beautiful Fall foliage. With it being the end of October it's time to think about guests coming on Halloween.

Fall Decor on the Front Porch

Fall is the season of Mums, warm throws, pumpkins, crunching leaves under our feet and hot apple cider (marshmallows included). To say nothing of some pretty blue and white.

Dining Room Makeover Reveal

Over the course of the past year I've slowly been making a few changes in my home. They've come slow and easy with a great deal of thought behind each of those changes. The dining room for many of us is a pass through room, a holding room of things destined for another space in our home. Most times dining rooms are used twice a year. Mine was no exception. A few years back I told my friend Gloria from Happy To Be some day I'm going to turn my dining room into a reading room. She said, "go for it girl!" Little did I know that day would come sooner than I thought.

Touches of Fall in the Reading Room

I hope I've been missed just a wee bit.
I took a much needed get away to
the east coast, North Carolina
to be specific to see my daughter
and the grands. I took loads
of pictures and will be sharing
those as soon as I get back
in the full swing of things
around here.

A Budget Friendly Makeover

It's been a busy couple of weeks around here, I've worked in the yard trying to get some much needed jobs marked off the to-do list. I'm slowly whittling the long list of outside jobs down to a manageable list, there is the inside list to start on once the weather isn't fit to be outside.

Living Room Makeover Reveal

The day is finally here for the Living Room Makeover Reveal! I'll be honest in saying I'm a bit nervous for all of you to see the change. It's large to me, and still "not quite" finished.

If you recall the makeover began in January. You can see some of those changes beginning to take on life HERE and HERE and HERE.  I'm always hesitant to share changes around my home, critics aside it's a step inside my world. I'm truly a very private person, not a good thing to be when you own a blog and it's purpose is to share.
So... come along

A Small Update To the Front Porch and Those Ferns

The dog-days of Summer are upon us, and Fall is on it's way. I've stayed busy with "tons" of work around here. Most of those projects aren't picture worthy. Like trimming all the trees and bushes, trust me when I say there was a lot of trimming to be done. I've gotten quite a jump on getting things ready for winter. I know right? It is knocking at our door, hopefully later rather than sooner.
I thought I would share an update of the front porch there's been a few changes here and there, as well as sharing how the ferns have grown.
It's no secret

Glass Cabinet Changes And Memories

I recently made another change around here. It's not a big change but a significant one. Sometimes small changes makes all the difference. I appreciate all of you that took the time to visit, I'm not sure why you can't leave a comment; if anyone has an answer can you please let me know how to fix this problem.

A Field Of Wild Flowers

Mother Nature has one fickle kind of personalty. We've had more rain since March than anyone can remember. Temperatures have jumped from overly warm and humid to chilly with more rain.

Fourth of July Primitive Style

With yet another gloomy day in our neck of the woods I've spent the morning going back through the archives. As I looked back through all the pictures the memories that erupted were some of laughs and some of tears. These last few months have been full of challenges, I keep trying to meet head on with a smile upon my face.
The shop is one of peace and enjoyment for me even on the numerous cloudy days we've had. I'm sure at some point the sun will shine constantly and we'll all be looking for shade to cool off under.

The Yucca's Bloom and A Visitor

With all the rains we've had the Yucca's are prettier than ever. I love seeing the sword-shaped leaves produce a stalk of beautiful blooms each year. To me it's always the sign summer and heat is right around the corner.

Summer Front Porch

I can't thank all of you enough for your sweet comments on my last post Tour Of My Shop. I'm very fortunate to be able to do something I love on a daily basis. The daily routine of displaying and ordering in new products never gets old to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed my little corner of the world. You can follow me on Face Book, Twitter and Instagram for daily updates of things around my home and the shop.

I recently shared A Little Update To the Front Porch if you missed that small update you can find it HERE.  I realized after posting I hadn't shared the full porch in it's entirety in a very long time if ever. What better time than now.

This is the view of the front of my home. One of the requirements when we built our home was I had to have a front porch. The porch is the full length of the house 68' and 10' deep. That's a 680 square feet of space to decorate and share with friends and family.
I'm standing in the front yard a fair distance from the front porch to get a full view of the front porch. Last summer was spent with the mule and a log chain pulling out bushes that were over grown or just looking bad. It was a lot of hard work but very rewarding. It truly cleaned up the look. I'll have to go back through the archives to find pictures of how it was to how it is now.

Let's Go Shopping . . . A Virtual Tour of My Gift Shop

And yet another day of rain has hit our area. It's been raining since late Tuesday night, we've had lots of flooding, roads closed and a few water rescues. Last I heard we've had 11'' plus. The farmers met yesterday and were advised to get their equipment out of the bottoms. With all the rains Montana and other places up north have had it's expected to hit our area on or around the middle of the month. They say we're being set up for the same conditions we experienced in 1993. The flood of 1993 was devastating to our area. I pray their reports are wrong, I ask that you keep our area and others in your thoughts and prayers.

I've been asked by a few lately for a tour of the shop. I'm always excited to share what I do for a living. I love helping others add a cozy touch to their homes.

Pottery Barn Console Table

Yesterday I did a short post and at the end hinted at another change around my home. You all had some pretty good guesses. I wish I was super woman and had completed some of your guesses. Well, I'm good folks but not quite that good. lol
My birthday falls in September, September the 1st to be exact. This past year was the first birthday I spent 100% alone, it was not an easy day for me. Weeks prior I had seen this table at Pottery Barn and fell in love. In a weakened state of mind, I knew it was time to make some changes. I measured and remeasured the wall in my office to make sure it would fit and fit well, not crowding the area. The table I had been using I sold to help pay for this one. Sometimes you can move pieces here and there to make room, I knew the style of the other table was not one I wanted to continue using, so the best option was for it to be sold, it was a win win. This is one of the first changes I made in trying to make over my home.

Finding Color in a Gray Colored Day

Another week has flown by. Another week of clouds and rain. Thankfully I got a 3 hour window to get the yard mowed up. Like everyone we're a little saturated and ready for some sun in our neck of the woods. We don't have it as bad as others, but come on enough is enough already. I'm still continue to pray for those in Texas and Oklahoma effected by all the flooding that has devastated their lives.

A Little Update To the Front Porch

For a long weekend this past weekend flew by. I hope all of you had a wonderful time with friends and family. My heart and soul goes out to all of those effected by the flood waters in Texas and Oklahoma. I cannot imagine the devastation after seeing it on the news. Prayers are being sent out for all of them.
A while back it dawned me the chairs on the East side of the porch were in desperate need of some cushions. The blue and white pillows looked a tad bit on the lonely side.

Making A Room Over With Fabrics - And Some Help Please

I hope all of you have had a super weekend. We've had a weekend of rain and more rain. Everything is a soggy mess around here. The ferns are loving all the humidity, my hair not so much. I'm ready for some sunny skies.
Well..... I am at it again folks. Tackling another room, well getting ready to tackle the room. We established a long time ago I dance to the beat of a different drum.

Maybe A Little Rough, Thrift Treasures All the Same

You know how it is, you have a desire in your heart that's been there for a long time. I've had a desire for a buffet for the shop from the day I opened almost 17 years ago. As luck would have it yesterday the desire of my heart came true times two.

Master Bath Makeover Reveal

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day with your families.
The long awaited Master Bath Makeover is complete. It's been in the back of my mind for quite sometime to tackle the ceilings in our home. The whole process started in January. You can see where it began and the process I went through HERE. Wow - Wow - and Double WOW!  We've come a long way from those pictures. I've truly forgotten how chaotic it was.

Spring Flowers Around the House, and a HInt

There are just not enough hours in the day for me to even come close to accomplishing all that I want to get done. Do you have that problem? I sure hope I'm not floating in that boat all alone. We've had a touch of rain here and there. The flowers around the house have sure been enjoying a drink from Mother Nature. The clematis is a bit behind schedule blooming, regardless the blooms popping here and there are gorgeous.

A BIG thanks to all of you for your kind comments
on my last post the
All of you were so kind and generous
you certainly know how to make

Every now and again a person needs to get away,  have a day of fun. On Monday that's exactly what I did. I had several errands in the city that needed to be taken care of, after finishing all of those I stopped at one of my favorite stores (besides my own) to check out all of her beauty.

Master Bedroom Make Over Reveal

When it came to making over the Master Bedroom I had a couple of goals in mind. To go lighter and brighter, and to make it a tad more feminine. The previous room was black and gold, I've lived in a world of dark for a while and had to have brightness. I didn't have a time line there was no hurry. The first step to the makeover was to scrap the popcorn off the ceilings. You can view and read all about that HERE.

Slow But Sure Progress Is Being Made

Like the Tortoise and the Hare
Progress is being made
in my small makeover.
I'm not sure
which one I am the
Tortoise or the
Hare.
 I worked all day Sunday
 putting a few
 finishing touches on the
living room before
moving furniture
back into the
living room.
 There isn't one piece of
furniture or accessory
in the same place
it used to be in.
 Placing items here
and there,
editing
as I went.
Miss Scooter had gone to the
doggy day spa for a good
grooming on Friday, that
and all of this moving
of furniture around
has her totally worn out.
There is still a ways to go
with all of the placing of
pictures and accessories.
I'm taking my time
trying to decide exactly
what is the right placement
for those items.
Last evening was
spent cleaning the
bedroom carpet.
Once it's good and dry
furniture can
be moved
back into that room.
I hope you'll continue
to stop by and travel along
with me as this small
makeover continues.
