Wow! This Summer has flown by. I'm sure many of you have big plans for Labor Day Weekend. Are you planning a weekend of boating? A bit of skiing or fishing? Maybe a big cook out? Whatever those plans are as long as friends and family are together good times are had by all. Our weekend will be pretty quiet, I'm hoping to walk down to the lake and throw a line in, our weather is suppose to be spectacular.
With the this being the last big weekend of Summer, I thought I would share a tablescape I did quite a while back. While painting the kitchen everything had to come off the area above the kitchen cabinets. If you're like me you never put anything back "exactly" like it was before. While the toolbox was down I thought it would make a great centerpiece for table served buffet style.
I used some of my old milk bottles to hold the flatware.
The smaller of the two is a cherished gift from my Uncle Dick many years ago. Titled Craig bottled in Boonville, Mo. adds a bit more nostalgia, Boonville isn't too far from us. Many years ago we used to head to the Steam Engine Show and do a bit of antiquing. To soften the hard scape of the toolbox I added a touch of lace.
Gorgeous!
Geraniums to make you smile.
Dessert bowls ready for homemade ice cream and end of the season strawberries. Or maybe a hint of wine to go with the steak and burgers. Or maybe you prefer a cup of coffee.
White pitcher from the collection holds the geraniums, another I forgot to take a picture of holds the ice tea.

It's a beautiful centerpiece Lynne!
No plans for Labor Day. We will just stay home and relax, since we will go to the lake the Friday after for the class reunion.
I can't believe it is closing in on Fall. After the crazy weather year and heat, I thought Fall would never get here and yet..here it is right around the corner!
Pretty buffet vignette. I like the idea of using the milk bottles to hold the flatware. I have one from the dairy like I drank from when in elementary school.
Right now not sure what will be doing on Labor day - waiting to hear from others.
No plans here...only hoping for a peaceful day.
I love you combination of colors and textures. The milk bottles.....wow, what a great idea. I wish I had some glass milk bottles.
Hope all is well in your home.
Lynne, your tablescape is just gorgeous. I love the toolbox caddy for your dishes and the milk bottles. The shawl is stunning. Such beautiful flowers and such a lovely setting. Hugs, Marty
I love the centerpiece AND the white dishes! Boonville...family memories as my Dad grew up in rural New Franklin, close to Boonville.
We are going up to the Auburn Car Auction in northern Indiana on Thursday. I'm "dumping" hubby out at the auction grounds & I am heading back in to Ft. Wayne to a few of my favorite shops. Then on Friday I am going to Shipshewana...Amish country!!! Hubby will be running his battery down on the golf cart, cruising teh aisles at the swap meet/auction. Back home for the weekend though & we will probably throw burgers on the grill.
Beautifully put together vignette, Lynne! Love the shawl and those glasses look like the same ones I have on my tablescape right now...Christine
What a beautiful vignette!
I'VE BEEN ENJOYING YOUR SUMMER THROUGH YOUR POSTS LYNNE, NOW IT'S NEARLY SPRING HERE IN AUSTRALIA, I LOVE ALL SEASONS BUT I THINK SPRING AND AUTUMN ARE MY FAVOURITES.
LOVELY STYLING LYNNE.

Hi Lynne!
I have a few milk bottles, though I think mine are probably new-ish. I love storing flatware in things like this...I used transferware pitchers. Yours look so cute this way and I just LOVE the plates stacked in that tool box/wooden box.

Hi Lynne...
What a beautiful "end of the summer" tablescape, dear friend! I love your old wooden toolbox...how perfect for displaying your lovely white dishes! Ohhh...and of course, my heart nearly skipped a beat when I seen your gorgeous scarf! That lace is so exquisite! How perfectly paired...the lace with the wood...love that! Your photos are fabulous, Lynne! Ohhh...how I would love to be there sharing a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with you at this beautiful table! What fun we would have!
Well dear friend, I do hope that you get to go fishing this holiday weekend...take a little break, Darlin'! You are always so busy! We really don't have any plans...as of yet anyway, but you never know about us! Have a wonderful Labor Day...enjoy!

Yup,a toolbox and lace! We won't tell my husband that....lol. I love your white plates. Your table is very pretty. I do hope you get to go fishing. We will have a quiet Labor Day weekend here in Texas. Just a swim in the pool and meat on the grill. Have a great weekend!
Blessings My Friend,
Super pretty, Lynne! And extremely creative!!! The dishes are so pretty, and I love the way you "put some girl" all over that toolbox!!! I'm sure every man in America is having some sort of physical reaction all over right now and wondering why! :-) Love the way you put the flatware in the bottle. I have visited Boonville once or twice (they have some AMAZING old houses there!!!!!) and pass by it every time we headed east on I-70. I didnt' realize Craig's was bottled there. I guess I just never paid attention. Cool! I hope you enjoy the weekend fishing or just plain ol' relaxing. Whatever you do, do it with gusto! See ya later!
