~ Rainy Day Changes ~

We'll soon be in our home 14 years, one thing they didn't waste space on is the entry way. Once you walk in the front door, "boom" you're in the living area. It's been a challenge to decorate, keeping things to a minimum.
With today's rain I decided to shake things up. Originally sitting on the small chest was a white urn and the lamp, although it worked fine, I was ready for a change.
Adding more blue I chose this beautiful plate recently picked up at Nell Hill's in Briarcliff. After adding the crystal orb, I felt it still needed  a wee bit of something. I like to decorate in odd numbered items, knowing the perfect item I was off to the shop. The crystal candlestick is new to the shop as well as the entry way. Originally I went with the red candle by Root. Hmmmm...  not quite the look I was going for. I changed out the red Root Candle for their vanilla. Much better. I purchased another lamp, thinking the iron on the base of this one was a bit on the heavy side. The new lamp bothered Mr. P. You have to remember around here some things have to stay the same, he gets used to something and changing things around seem to bother him. Not wanting to have him disoriented I put this lamp back on the chest.  As you can see it all came together just fine. The crystal orb has a unique quality all it's own. I have several blue and white orbs, felt that the small entry called for something more on the lighter side. I've used my decorating books in vignettes for years, they work as great anchors.  I feel they need to be displayed as well as read. Don't hide them away on your bookshelf. Pull them out work them into a vignette, you'll enjoy them more often. So.. there you have the finished entry way vignette. I hope you enjoyed seeing the changes as much as I did putting it together. Thank you for swinging in to say hello. I'm off to work on another area or two.

Hi Lynne.....I have an "entry way" just like yours....BOOM...walk thru the front door and you're in the living area. Your changes to the table are great. And too funny about "The Mr."...men are funny that way. I love to decorate with books too They add a lot to the grouping! GOOD JOB!

I saw on Mary Carol's FB that she featured crystal candlesticks...making a come back? I love them and have several I've collected over the years. A dear friend wowed me many years ago with how she would group several together....and I was hooked. I'm glad they are being used again in decorating. I've always used mine because I just love them.

Your lamp is awesome, Lynne!!!

Wow..did you have storms roll through your way? I unplugged my computer because of the lightening...at least it's all over with! Maybe the weather will be great for the Chief's first pre-season tonight!

Have a great evening!!! dana

Your entry is really beautiful. I love your choice of accessories. The blue and white plate with the cow and sheep...perfect! and the lamp too. I certainly understand small spaces, as my home is small and I'm always struggling with getting things the right scale for the space.
You did a fabulous job and it so welcoming.
Have a great weekend,
Babs

Oh how I wish we'd have some cooler weather or some rain. It's so hot and humid here..... all I want to do is SIT......
I love your changes.... maybe you'll inspire me to get off my tuff and do something.
I love what you've done..... but.... I always love what you do..... your taste is so similar to mine.

Your reworked table is lovely. I love it all. I love the vanilla candle better as well.
My mister doesn't take to well to change either. Disturbs their comfort zone.
Thanks for sharing. Ginger

Hi Lynne, my entry way is small with 5 steps up to the main area and 8 down. We live in a raised bungalow. I find it hard to decorate the main landing as you come in the door. Any suggestions? Love your entryway.

Hey Lynne...I just got up & put 2 pretty books under an item on my foyer shelf, just because yours looks so nice! Thanks for the inspiration...I like it very much. You always do such great vignettes.
