Foodie Friday and Comfort Food

I'm so excited to be participating in the first Foodie Friday. Hosted by our esteemed Gollum over at http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com/ . I had to smile to myself the other day when Gollum was talking about Dr. Gollum thinking this means real food.. that's what I call it around here when I cook. Mr. P. doesn't eat a whole lot, so there's no actual cooking per say.. So, maybe between me joining in Foodie Friday and tablescaping , I'll cook more and maybe he'll eat more.. :-)

I just had to include the incredible shot of the urn once again.. :-) You might need some salt and pepper....

Oh my.. the ladybug is still around.. anyone figure it out yet? :-))

Yummy.. fried chicken...Layered in a glass dish on the most delicate of feet..Doesn't this look delicious? Feel free to grab yourself a piece. I actually have more in the oven keeping it warm for all my guests.
Now, I see a hole in the dish of chicken ..looks like Mr. P might have grabbed the wing.. ummm

Look who decided to join us this week. Miss Scooter. She's waiting oh so patiently. Hoping, really hoping, I'll turn my back so she can grab a piece of chicken.. But, as you can see Miss Scooter is a tad over weight (too many treats for doing her tricks), so she can't have a morsel of chicken.

Let's add some mashed potatoes.. I would have mashed potatoes with every meal if it were possible.

Close up...

I chose to add the antique green bowl for dessert.

Doesn't this look delicious? Butterfly sliced cre'me cake, sugar free of course. Mr. P. can't have sugar..sorry girls have to bake for the man of the house.. lol

Miss Scooter has even crossed her little paw, thinking I might cave because she's being such a lady.. sorry darling no dice.. :-)) Your mama still loves you ! You just can't have any chicken..

Yummy... this is delicious. My original plan was to put some strawberries on it. Best layed plans..The frozen ones were out of stock, the fresh ones looked days old.. so.. I had to punt, grab a fork, a hot cup of coffee and just go for it...lol.. Please join me for some.

Now, has anyone figured out what our cute little lady bug actually is? See her clear little stick? Drum roll please...... She's a Swizzle Stirrer. Had any of you guessed? In my original post I told you she was a gift from my daughter. I cherish these little beauties..

This was just the most fun I've had in a long time. I totally forgot until after the meal was over to take photos of the sweet corn and the homemade biscuits.. sure hope you didn't miss them.. lol
A big thank you to Gollum for hosting the first Foodie Friday. Don't forget to swing over to check out a full list of participants.
Now, I'm off to see the other wonderful Foodie Friday posts. hugs ~lynne~

Oh Lynne, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy and warm bread is my most favorite meal in the whole world. I would be in heaven at your gorgeous table and wonderful menu. I could just taste how good it was. Hugs, Marty

A swizzle stick! Who would've thought?!!! Yes, I believe I will have some chicken and mashed potatoes--I LOVE the bowls and the Majolica. I need to find where I packed mine.
More than dishes, I need to make a sugar free butterfly cake--if I'm going to eat carbs, this is the way to do it! I'm so glad you came to the potluck!

Hi Lynne, :)

YUMMY! I love this meal. One of my all time favorites too. Love the swizzle stick. How cute is that?

How did I miss knowing about Foodie Friday?
It sounds so fun! Sigh. I'll have to join in next week.

Have a good one.

Lynne,

This meal looks so delicious, wish I could fly over!! The fried chicken looks really good, do you have the recipe to share? And always, I love seeing everyones serving dishes, I'm big on them and am always adding to my "collection". I adore all of yours. :-)

That ladybug is a hit! The ones we have in Michigan though are real pests. The fartmers purchase a special species to eat bugs that destroy their crops and these things BITE! They get in my house and collect on window sills and land everywhere. Hate to ruin the whimsy of your little cutie, most ladybugs are really sweet!

Great Foodie Friday post Lynne!

I am starving! I love fried chicken, and I believe I'd like to have a drumstick, please, Lynne!

And that cake looks mouth-watering, too.

And your lady bug! How cute!

And that precious pup is the crowing touch. I'm always a sucker for a cute dog!

Happy Foodie Friday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh, Lynne, this is my kind of meal! I love fried chicken but don't eat it very much. Love mashed potatoes too! Oh, I'm feeling so sorry for poor little Miss Scooter! Just a crumb, Mommy? The cream cake sounds delicious. I know, I love strawberries too. We have them in the grocery stores, but like yours, they don't look so hot!
Nice job, Dear ONe.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

We love pan fried chicken. We don't have it very often. As children, we both had chicken every Sunday!

J is one of the premier chicken fryers at the Knights of Columbus Hall. They're pretty famous in our part of the world, for their chicken. That's deep fried. J generally fries or chicken outdoors. But once in awhile, we crave that good old fashioned pan fried chicken!

Great post, Lynne!

Lynne! Fabulous meal darlin, my favorite, fried chicken and mashed potatoes! Did you make milk gravy? I just opened a box of microwave boneless BBQ chicken wings, BOO HOO, but I ate the whole box! (it was small!) Gosh I wish I was a cook... Have a great weekend!!

Glenda said...

I think a requirement for Foodie Friday should be to include the recipes for the dishes shown. You have made me so hungry for fried chicken that DH will now have to stop on the way home for some take-out, from our favorite purveyor Church's. Just love their honey biscuits, maybe not homemade but close enough. Those potatoes look absolutely scrumptious.

I'm gonna tell DH his unscheduled stop is all Lynne and Gollum's fault, but once he starts eating he won't care whose idea it was. He'll be too busy enjoying, to take the time to place any blame.
