Building a Vignette

Today I've gotten busy and shaken things up around here. It's so cold outside and I wanted to try to bring a "touch" of Spring inside. Now, I know it's a bit early to be thinking about Spring. But with the gray overcast skies, what better time to do some changing?

So, I went shopping around the house and found these items and decided to pair them up. Some of you may remember the big green urn from Christmas. I had it filled to the rim with vintage mercury ornaments. I thought the beauty of the green showed off well with the background of the browns in the dining room. Although I love the beauty of the green urn I felt it needed just a touch of something. So, off I go again. Out of the secretary in the kitchen I pulled this green leafed ball and stuck it inside. I think a vignette is coming together. :-) I then pulled a birds nest full of eggs from another room and the small bird from another area.. So far so good. :-) The Fleur DI Li's I pulled off the top of the refrigerator, and the tray from the ottoman in the living room. The pears I got from the shop. :-) I really like the "punch" of green and the softness they added to the harshness of the metal tray.
I purchased this picture from Home Interiors many years ago. I loved the verse and live by it daily. However, I felt the frame needed a bit of an update. So a few weeks back I stained the inside of the frame black to bring it into the 21st Century. I think it turned out great. What do you girls think? After all it's only stain. If I decide to change my mind, I can go with another color . Right?
A shot from above.
So, girls.. just another reminder. Shop your home first. You have lots of treasures you can pair together to make a vignette. The fun is in the chase. Try pulling things out and pairing them with something different and build a new vignette. I look forward to seeing some more of your fantastic vignettes. I have some bare spots to decorate now, so I'm off to work on those. :-)) hugs ~lynne~

Just so pretty! All looks wonderful together, and the frame is a great makeover. Today, I went shopping in my home, most of my things are packed, until remodel is finished. I decided today, I wanted my family close. I found the girls silk brides bouquets, and used them as the table centerpiece. A wonderful reminder to the girls and their hubby's too. We had a great family dinner. They spent some much needed time with their Daddy.

OOOOOOOOOh, it's cold here today too - and gray! With a smattering of snow. I have been inspired to go peek in all my nooks, crannies and shelves to look for vignette possibilities. Thanks so much.

Hi Lynne, I LOVE this and especially the theory behind it. Once, as we were stacking things in the back den to get the kitchen and living room ready to paint, I noticed in all the piles of stuff that everything I owned and loved "went with" everything else! What a happy surprise. Love the way you put this vignette together!

It looks beautiful, Lynne!

You asked about my bunny chalkboard. I asked J if he could remember where we found it. We both recall Cracker Barrel, but it's been a few years.

How lovely Lynne. Isn't shopping in-house the bestest? I think the second bestest would be shopping at other's homes. LOL I will start at yours, and I will be over tomorrow bright and early. I'll bring my own coffee as not to bother you! :-) I love the tray and the urn filled with the ball. Hugs, Barb

I used to have the same verse/picture you have. Wish I had kept it an updated like you did with the black stain. It looks so "fresh" now.

I keep a picture of sunflowers in my living room year round cause summer is my fav season. Just can't part with it even during winter.

Thanks for stopping by my Blog. Pelase come again!

Hi Lynne, love your vinette, I can't wait for spring! I need to shop around my house to spruce a few things up too. I gave you an award that I'm sure you have already received, so you don't need to post it. But you do deserve it! I hope you have a great week! Kristen

Great job! Now when are you going to share pictures of the shop? Those pairs look really good in your vignette...

I was shopping for a Valentine swap & found artichoke candle holders that fit in a candleholder... Do you think I bought them - no... Now I need to remember where I found them & go back...

Hi Lynne! I'm putting my name on the list too for you to come and fix me some vignettes in my house! And the best part is that you would probably take all my "stuff" and find new & improved ways to use it too! This looks beautiful but you know what was making my heart go pitty pat? The hutch display in the background with the majolica and the bunny. I LOVE that. Close up please! thank you! :) Have a good week! ~ Laurie

Lynne,
I love your vignette!!
Way to make use of things you have. I need to do a little decorating at home too, but seems there is always something to do at the shop and it usually gets done first.

I just spent 3 hours, 3 hours!!!!
on the computer putting my bird nest tutorial on my blog.
It's my first one. If anyone out there wanted to come by and critique it, I would sure love the help.
I want to do more, and there is so much to learn.

Have a super week.

Blessings,
Barbara Jean

Thank you for dropping by again, and for your encouraging words about my bird nest tutorial.

I've been asked about others posting a link on their sites, and would love for anyone to do that.

I always love getting your notes.

Taking the day off and going to the coast with my fella.

My problem seems to be a lack of or poorly utilized space. It seems like, when I receive a gift from a relative of a decorative nature (mostly my niece and GC), where the gift comes to rest becomes it's permanent home.

I really need to work on being more creative. It feels as if the older I get the less I am struck with a creative spark. I guess I need to create the spark by lighting a fire underneath myself.

I don't have any vignettes but I so love yours.

I'm ready for Spring and to get my hands dirty out in the yard!
