A Small Update To the Front Porch and Those Ferns

The dog-days of Summer are upon us, and Fall is on it's way. I've stayed busy with "tons" of work around here. Most of those projects aren't picture worthy. Like trimming all the trees and bushes, trust me when I say there was a lot of trimming to be done. I've gotten quite a jump on getting things ready for winter. I know right? It is knocking at our door, hopefully later rather than sooner.
I thought I would share an update of the front porch there's been a few changes here and there, as well as sharing how the ferns have grown.
It's no secret
I love my front porch. About 90% of my time is spent here on a daily. I can't get enough of the beautiful view of the lake. When I posted a view of the front porch HERE the ferns were doing well, but the last couple of months they've truly grown, touching the floor of the porch their beauty is beyond words.
A couple of weeks ago I spent the day power washing the deck of the porch and the ceiling. The job was daunting but well worth all the work. Once all that work was done I rolled up the rugs and put them away for the year, I know a tad early, again getting a jump on preparing the porch for winter.

I still haven't gotten the new pillows made to go with the new cushions. There just isn't enough hours in the day. The fabric is here waiting for me to tackle that job, it'll come all in good time. huh?
The red impatient has grown like crazy and is a thing of beauty. The red adds that punch of color this end of the porch was calling for.
All of you know I love my bunnies. I should count the number I have around here, then again maybe I shouldn't. lol We know there are "several."
A front porch calls for relaxing and playing a few games. I cannot tell you how many hours the grandson Bailey and I have played tic tac toe on the front porch, with granddaughter keeping score it's quality family time at it's finest. I don't recall where I purchased the concrete game, it was sure worth the purchase.
It's beginning to show it's wear.. doesn't effect the fun of playing tic tac toe.
The past few days around here have been letter perfect. Nice breezes through the day have helped with warmer temperatures, so welcome after the hot muggy days last week.

Thanks so much for joining me on the front porch. I hope all of you have a fantastic weekend.
Fondly ~ Lynne ~

They're just too nice to throw away. I haven't tried growing one in years. I only tried them indoors so I don't know what it's like to grow them outside. Having a covered porch sound great. We have a deck and a table with umbrella but sometimes I'd prefer it if it were covered. I can't take the sun like I used to. Tic tac toe is always a fun game- short and fast! We were muggy and hot here for a bit and it cooled down enough yesterday that I wore a thin jacket in the early evening. Crazy!

Lynne,
Oh, dear friend, your ferns are gorgeous!!!
I only have one here on the Prairie. . .and it has survived the high winds well!!!
I agree, our recent weather has been splendid!!!
I don't sit out~of~doors, but "Mr. Ed" has enjoyed the deck and the Herb Garden!!!
Summer 2015 has been the first since our move to remain lush and green!!!
All the while Autumn is my favorite Season, I'm not quite ready to say good~bye to Summer!

Your ferns are beautiful - look much better than mine. The heat this year has really taken a toll on all my potted plants. High is suppose to be in the 80's all this next week - hope the prediction is correct.
Love your porch.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Your ferns are beautiful! I have two on the front porch that severely drying out and nearly dead. LOL! I have been working on ideas to replace them and spruce up the front porch for fall so I am so glad you posted this. We do not use our front porch (were all about the back porch) but I want it to be very inviting anyway. I love the inspiring photos you have shared!

Nice to have a concrete checker game. I've never seen one but can see its appeal.
Have a wonderful week.
