Late Fall Boston Ferns on the Front Porch

After what seems like forever the rains have finally stopped the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. The temperatures are more Fall all like than early Winter like. As many of you know I love my front porch. The dogs and I spend most evenings out here, the cooler temperatures and continual rain has prevented that as of late.
I know many of you are
sharing all of your beautiful Fall decor, all of them are truly inspiring. Since today is so pretty and the ferns are still so gor-geous I thought I would share with you how large they got this year and are still going strong. You can see at the far end the one sitting on the floor of the porch. The heavy winds and the weight of the fern broke one side of the holder and I found it lying on the ground one morning. I was just sick, fortunately it was none the worse for wear, since then another one was found on the ground. They are so heavy it was all I could do to get them back on the porch.

I love flanking each side of the door with ferns each year, you might say I'm locked into a style, but when something makes you happy why change right?
I made the pillows last year, I enjoy coming out to see the restful color of the blue and white each evening.
Naturally, my buddy Mr. Murphy loves a photo opportunity. For a stray dog that showed up and adopted me I couldn't ask for a better dog. The blue and white cushions by Ralph Lauren are new this year from T.J. Maxx and have held up extremely well.
The view is just as good from the drive down below where you drive into the Gift Shop.
The fans we installed a couple of years ago from Home Depot still look like new and are used on those calm and humid evenings.

 Say cheese.

So there you have the view of the ferns as they look today. I'm truly going to miss their beauty and the calmness they provide. I'm hoping to change out the light by the door next year for something a bit more up to date, it's one of the many things on the list of things to do. Do you have one of those lists? I would love for you to share.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I sure enjoyed your visit. I hope you all have a wonderful fun-filled weekend. Since the grounds are still to wet to mow you'll find this girl inside painting. I promise to share that project with you soon, again the list of things I've been working on is long, (my projects have been my way of dealing)  you'll see tons of updates soon.
Fondly ~ Lynne ~

Lynne, I hope your doing well and it's so good to see you posting again. Yes, I make lists all the time and end up making new ones because I never seem to finish LOL. I guess that comes with old age.
Your ferns are so pretty. Do you bring them in in the winter? I have a very large one that needs re-potting, but it's way to heavy for me to do and I can't seem to find a LARGE pot. I am afraid to separate it for fear it will die.
Your dog is so pretty and she sounds like a wonderful dog and loves you lots.
Have a great weekend.
Mary

Hi Lynne! Your front porch is so pretty and the ferns are just gorgeous! They're huge! Do you bring them in when the cold weather hits? Now little Murphy is one handsome pup! Hope you're doing well and you're always a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Beautiful ferns! I had two gorgeous ones this past summer that were $10.00 each...such a great deal. One has started to show it's age, but the other I have brought inside in hopes of keeping it alive through the winter right now it is gorgeous. Heard they are tough to grow inside! Your front porch looks like a delightful place to hang out with that cutie, Murphy! Jane

Wow the ferns look fabulous! Do you bring them in and keep them going? I would love your porch too! We have a big deck which is great but a covered porch has a more personal cozy feeling. I didn't know you had the stray dog. Is it a shetland sheep dog or a collie? What a nice companion to have! Fall has arrived here right on time. We've had too much rain lately but for now it's dry.

Your ferns are beautiful. My are still going also. They are large but not quite as big as yours.
Yes - I am very familiar with "the lists". LOL My problem I add often but rarely mark anything off. :/
Beautiful dog!
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Lynne, your porch is a wonderful spot this time of year, I'm sure. Your ferns are still beautiful! Mine are too. In fact, my geraniums have revived since the cooler weather is here. I won't get rid of any of them until they die from the first frost. Here in Texas that could be awhile. :)

Well for heavens sake! You have the same cushions on your chairs that I have..and they are wonderful! The yellow ones..I love your ferns..I wish it weren't so hot here so we could have them. I had to take them out back and hide them in shade with bright light..and most are coming back. Yours are just gorgeous! Surely you don't have plans to removed them......do you? I spend a lot of time on my front porch too. Hugs...I think of you and hope you are doing well. Not an easy time for you, I know. Love,
Mona

The weather has not been kind, has it? Big, blustery winds and SO much rain!!! It's like Chicago and Seattle had a baby and the stork dropped it off here in the Midwest!!! So glad your felled fern survived! And no problem with being locked into ferns every year...they're classic and gorgeous! ANd yours are so incredibly healthy!!!

I have a feeling you'll be inside for awhile. This rain has just been crazy, and the ground is going to be sopping wet for years!

Ginger, thanks so much. I truly love ferns wish I could enjoy them year round. fondly ~lynne~

Mary, I use to bring them in, however the sunporch is too full of furniture now. I've found they like to be crowded, if yours is doing well I suggest leaving it alone, sometimes once you disturb them they don't do as well. I'm doing ok, each day baby steps, thanks so much for thinking of me and asking. fondly ~lynne~

Hi Jane, so glad to see you stopped by. If you have the right lighting your fern should do well inside, they just don't require as much watering. fondly ~lynne~

Stacy, I'm so fortunate they love the front porch, I'll be here 17 years in Nov. and haven't missed a year of having ferns on the front porch. I don't have any luck with geraniums... fondly ~lynne~
