~ It's Been One of "THOSE" Weeks ~

You all know how much I "love" my front porch. It's my little get away from the real world and all that's going on, a place for quiet. This had been one of the "those" weeks where at times the front porch isn't far enough away from the real world issues. Mr. P took a terrible fall on Wednesday evening, oh my goodness is he ever sore, thank heaven there are no broken bones. Thank goodness for the walker and him finally using it, he's getting around the house a little easier. I know it's a "huge" relief for me to see him use it.
The coleus plant reminds me of my Grandma, especially her gardens and kitchen. The kitchen was very small a big gathering place for all of us when we came for visits. The table was a semi banquet style with shelves in the windows that held cut flowers from the gardens, coleus being one of them. Lots of starts to plant for another day.
The vibrant green and burgandy colors remind me of Victorian days, where things were elegant and graceful.
Taking a few pictures of things that catch my eye is a constant past time to fill the long evening hours. I'm currently backing all those pictures up on discs to preserve them, as well as free up space on the computer.

I'd much rather spend my time taking pictures of these beautiful things instead of......
Let me preface this by saying after I close the shop in the evenings I normally don't go back down to the office area or to the shop until the next morning to prepare to open the shop for the day. Saturday morning I went down a tad early to take care of some paperwork. The phone rang letting me know my girlfriend had come for a visit. As I walked toward the door, my feet squished and I felt a LOT of water.. oh man I did not need this. You see the first of the week the hot water heater was acting up, the repairman came out and decided it was the thermostat. A quick easy fix right??? WELLLLL.... NOT so much...
Hard to see in this picture the carpet was soaked.

The water was so hot it melted the tray I "used" to roll wallpaper in before hanging it.
I don't think I'm going to be using this tray any time soon.
The shop is a total disaster. I've had to move everything over and off the wet carpet. I've put a call into the Insurance Company, waiting to hear back from then to see about the outcome of the latest disaster around here. The new hot water heater is due to be moved and installed on Monday. I know troubles come in 3's but I believe I've surpassed that about 4 ago. When I started working on this post I was on the laptop in the kitchen... now the keyboard doesn't want to work on that silly thing. My only question is what next??? It is way past time for this black cloud and long heavy veil hanging over us to disappear. It is truly trying my patience, so on that note.....
I believe I'll head out to the front porch and enjoy the beauty and calm of Mother Nature. Even though our temperatures have been in the 100's and over with a promise of next week being the same at least I can forget about all the furniture and product that has to moved "again" in the shop. I'll be dealing with all of this for a bit, I'll try to get back to each and everyone of you as soon as I can. Thanks for hanging in with me your support means the world.
hugs ~lynne ~

Oh my sweet Lynn, the water issue is the last thing on earth you need at this time. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of this.

Thank goodness Mr P ...didn't break any bones, but I know how scary and frustrating all of the issues of looking after him are for you.

I wish we could sit on your beautiful porch together....we could cry and laugh together.
I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,

Lynne, you are being tested to the limit!

What about that 'guy thing' ???
When my Dad first had to use a walker he was so grumpy and with his cane he was worse, I would take him to his club and he'de leave his cane at the door! Wouldnt use it to climb the stairs to meet his friends!!!!
Hope this is a better week for you xxx

I still have repairs to be done from the last 2 issues here. :( Just to much other happening.
Hope things start going smoother for you.
Have a great week and stay cool.

So sorry friend about your week. Am so thankful Mr. P is ok- falls can be so very nasty. Darn that water heater!

Love coleus and your post makes me want to go out and get some- I haven't planted any in ages- used to have it all the time in NM as it wouldn't freeze and I kept some going in jars too!

Lynne, you're certainly overdue for a bunch of good luck. I'm glad Mr.P didn't break any bones. That's a blessing. Keep hanging in there. Oh, your coleus is so pretty. I haven't seen many coleus at the garden centers this year, and I miss them. The last one I had was called "Fishnet Stockings". Sorry, I'm rambling. :) Hope you have a great 4th! and I'll keep you in my prayers,
Hugs,
Babs

Poor, Poor Lynne, you have really been through it, haven't you. Back off, Satan, she's ours and you can't have her! I'll say prayers, Lynne, I promise. Heads up if you can! Much Love, Judy

Goodness gracious, child...you have had the week from beyond Hades!!! I am SO sorry!!! I am really sorry that your husband took a bad fall, too. Yikes! That must have scared you both silly!!! I wish I could hop in my car and some up there to help clean up the mess and get things back to "normal" in the shop. I would probably be more trouble than I'm worth, though! Oh, I hope that black cloud soon dissipates and leaves you to enjoy life again. Take care, and I hope you can somehow enjoy the holiday.
