~ Some Changes In the SunPorch ~

Hi everyone, I hope all of you have had a great weekend. Did you do anything special? I would love to hear what you were up to. I spent my weekend cleaning windows, and all the glassware in the house. Now you know it's in the unwritten rule book clean windows bring on the rains. We're so dry around here, a bit of rain would be so welcome. It's so dusty and the ground is cracking like crazy.  The strong winds have been whipping my beautiful ferns to death, a couple of times I've taken them down to prevent any damage. Even with all the winds they're surviving well, growing like crazy. They're beautiful hanging on the front porch. I'll share a post of those soon.
A while back I made a few changes in the sun porch. Look all the way down there to the end. Can you see anything different? I have to admit, it is a bit hard to see. Come along I'll share some closer shots with you.
This beautiful vintage rocker belonged to my Grandma, if it could talk the stories it would tell. A companion to the library table I use in the shop brings back a lot of fond memories for me. I don't recall the original fabric, I'm sure it was something flowery, not my taste so it was changed.
To this fabric with touches of blue and burgundy. I'm sure many of you remember when burgundy was all the rage, some of you may have it.
You can see there's nothing wrong with the fabric. I bought a good quality fabric and knew I would love it forever. Yeah, right. WE all know better than that. Some things change around here like the winds blowing, others stay the same for quite a while.  After painting the sun porch I planned to go in a different direction with the decor. This fabric was just a bit to "dressy".

I didn't want to take away from the Vintage feel of the rocker, I wanted something more traditional but casual at the same time. After pouring through fabric samples I ran across this green check in Hobby Lobby last winter. I've had the pillow with the brush trim for quite a while, the organic scheme works perfectly with the green check.

I layed the cushion on top of the green plaid fabric adding 2" for overlap. Making sure everything was straight, I started in the middle with my first staple. I pulled tight and stapled about every 1" wanting to make sure the edges were straight and tight, not so tight they would pull when you sat in the chair. I wish I had taken pictures of this step to share, bad blogger.
The weathered porch post is a rare treasure Mr.P brought in from a job site. Originally white and peeling paint a few years back I decided to stain it black. I lightly sanded the edges for more of a worn look. It works great in the corner as a pot stand, and occasionally it holds a lamp. It's one of those pieces I call a floater piece. It floats from room to room and even to the shop on occasion.

The lawyers bookcase was moved up from the office last fall. When I was putting things together out here I originally added the blue plate.
While cleaning one day I decided to move the silver platter out here. The blue plate found a new location.

Hi Lynne! Oh, everything looks wonderful! I just love your sunporch. Your grandmother's rocker is marvelous! It looks so sturdy and how wonderful you have it! Love your cushion redo too. I would love to have a column like yours. The fern looks wonderful on it. You know how I love your lawyers bookcases and I just knew you'd have a blue and white plate! :)
Hope you've had a wonderful Sunday.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I remember those days of burgundy - and navy and green too. I used to have a couch covered in a plaid using those colors and like you, knew that I would love it forever - HA! The new fabric that you chose for your chair is perfect! Love the cute pillow too!
