I had to do that once. Pat brought home a tiny puppy when were just married and I was expecting my first son. Mike was a little black pup with white on his chest. We lived half a block from a grade school and when Mike grew up he would leave home, go to the school and escort each bunch of children to their homes and then run back and escort another group of children. I was always so upset with him for slipping past me. This was in the 1950's and there was no lease law. I owned no leash.
I would go get him, bring him home and shame him and scold him and this went on and on. Then Mike disappeared one day...not to be found. Oddly it was a weekend. Someone told me where he was and I found him with a family of six children..He was overjoyed to see me but as I drove up I could see he was having the time of his life with that family... and the parents told me that Mike was a constant visitor and thinking him a stray had taken them on a family outing to the mountains. That was where he had been all weekend. I left Mike there and crying, went home, collected his dishes and all his toys and took them to his new family. I had just had my first child and Mike was lay under his bassinet and crib but it would be a long time before he would become the playmate Mike needed..He needed to run and play with children. And so I let him go.

I eventually had seven little ones...and often thought how pleased Mike would have been. I will always think of him. I hope he had a good life.
Love,
MonaWsprsweetly Of Cottageshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17990765326246470929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6290257839007576851.post-61097066179808834302015-03-29T19:40:10.425-05:002015-03-29T19:40:10.425-05:00I know that was a very hard decision for you.
