Paint Changes Everything

I thought I would be ready to share an update to the pocket door installation. There was a small cliche to a few finishing touches. I'm hoping to share that the end of the week or the first part of next week. Thanks to all that came by and voiced your opinions.

In the meantime, you know I don't sit still. I spend a lot of time in my office especially this time of the year. While a friend was visiting the other day my eyes kept going back to the black cabinet. It was missing something, needed something. It finally dawned on me what it had been lacking all of these years.
Mr. P brought
this glassed cabinet along with 4 others home quite a few years back. The outside color was same as the inside, a fairly nice provincial stain color. Provincial stain is one of my all time colors to use. However, these came in the house when black furniture was so popular. I spent a few days staining all of the cabinets black. On this particular cabinet I back sanded the edges and put a finish on them with scratch n dent. It was just enough color to mimic the inside shelf colors.
It came to me, the inside needed to be painted a lighter color. For a couple of days I looked at white copy paper placed on the inside. I knew the minute the paper went in my decision was right on target.

Along with the inside shelves needing to be updated, a few things on the outside needed it as well. It's funny how one thing snowballs into another. Purge, purge, purge. That's my motto for the year, the trash men have certainly seen that a few times.
What a transformation. Now all of my treasures on the inside are showcased as they should be. The blue and white pops off the white shelves.

I eliminated the pillow from the chair to give it a more cohesive look and purged catalogs from the basket. Now, this little corner in my office looks cleaner and brighter.

 BEFORE
 AFTER
I wish I'd made this change a long time ago. It's amazing what a little paint in a short afternoon can do for an area. Do you look at things yearn for a change and jump in with both feet and take the plunge?

Oh my word, these look amazing. You are so right, paint can change anything, but it takes a really careful and educated eye to know what color and where paint should be added. You kit it our of the park.
