My Trip To North Carolina

Thank You, thank you for your sweet ,kind, wonderful, thoughtful comments on my
"Happy anniversary Mr. P." post. With each one I read I shed tears of happiness realizing all of you would have loved this man and the gift he was to me.
I hope
the New Year has started off well for all of you. Here in Missouri we seem to keep bouncing from warmer temperatures dipping into the deep freeze to areas flooding and others experiencing more Spring like temperatures. This winter is already one for the books.

A year ago I took a trip out to North Carolina to visit my daughter and the grands. I was so scared to fly across country by myself. Mr. P and I had flown in our airplane many times to many places. It wasn't the thought flying it was flying alone, afraid I would miss my flight. It all went smoothly, my daughter had booked the flight I think with that in mind, I had loads of time in between connecting flights. I've been back out since this trip, the flight pre-scare was a little easier, but gotta tell ya it was still there. Thank goodness for friends that drive me to and from the airport and stay with me until I'm ready to board. It was a whirl wind trip full of as much sight seeing as we could punch into the few short days I was there.

I'll tell you a bit of a secret growing up as a teen into a young adult I was quite the Pepsi alcoholic. It was so bad sugar levels were out of control. After being weaned off Pepsi (during the process I just knew I wasn't going to make it, folks it was rough), I haven't touched Pepsi in over 38 years. My daughter however, remembers this was my drink of choice. I was so touched she wanted to share the birthplace of Pepsi Cola with me.

It's not a large space but chocked full of memorabilia. I had the best time, I felt like a child in a candy store. There were many items to choose from to purchase as souvenirs. I purchased a coffee cup and a tee shirt. While there the grandson and I sipped on a Pepsi float, I just couldn't miss out on the moment of reliving the days when I sipped on many in a weeks time. I have to admit I don't recall it being so sugary sweet, ( Sorry Pepsi- Cola I had to say good-bye to you for health reasons, for those still drinking it I do remember my love for the drink),  I don't believe I'll be picking up the habit again anytime soon.

The court yard just up the street was still decorated for the holidays. I thought the wreath was just the cutest.
After all it is bear country and this fella was a tall one. The grands and I had to have our pictures taken with him.
Just little 'ole me. Folks it was cold out there a year ago. The first day there the daughter's furnace went out, others lost their heat as well. The next week another cold front hit the state of North Carolina and many lost water pipes. This year is an entirely different story the temperatures have been super warm. Go figure not the year I'm planning on going out for a visit.
I found the picture, throw and quilt quite sometime ago. I mailed it a few days before leaving, it arrived the second day of my visit. My daughter was so surprised, pleased and happy to receive a gift from her Mom that speaks volumes of her love for the beach.
Coming back from New Bern my daughter stopped along the side of the road so I could take a shot of this beautiful house all decorated for the holidays. I can only imagine what the inside looked like.
After stopping at a steak house having a great meal and visit it was time to head back to the house. Miss Isabelle the kids little pup was so anxious to see us. She is just the sweetest little thing, she too loves living by the ocean.
It's a morning of light freezing rain here, perfect for curling up on the sofa with a good book right? that is not in my game plan for the day. I'm in the office getting things organized and ready for tax season to get into full swing. What are your plans for the day?

Stay tuned for a soon to come post of the updates going on in the rest of the house. It has been a very busy couple of weeks around here. The progress has been quick and steady to say I'm one excited, pleased gal is an understatement. I've definitely been doing my happy dance.
Fondly ~ Lynne ~

It looks like a neat town to explore. My favorite author lives there (Nicholas Sparks).

Ginger it was a tad on the late side when we got there, didn't get too explore too much; what we did see was pretty awesome. Nicholas Sparks is my daughters favorite author as well. fondly ~ lynne ~
