Christmas Open House

Owning a gift shop for the past 17 years has been one of the highlights of my life. After traveling over the road 14 years prior doing crafts and making everything from bears to birdhouse lamps I decided it was time to come off the road. Mr. P. was delighted to say the least. The first year after doing one of the largest shows I'd ever done in Fort Scott, Kansas I took the plunge and opened the doors to a some what might I say "empty" shop. The fever took and I've been at it ever since.

This coming weekend
marks the 17th open house event. Nervous doesn't describe the way I feel each year. You try to kick things up each year ordering in product you pray the public loves as much as you do. As I tell many of my customers I have the most fun decorating the tree each year. Being somewhat of a traditionalist I usually stick with reds and greens for the main tree in the shop. Throwing in fun things as top hats a few pillows and yes a horn or two always adds interest.

Taming the mantle with white bottle brush trees and adding interest with the plaid Christmas stockings
Over the past year my love for pillows has gone should we say a "little" over the top. When I spotted these pillows I knew they would make a perfect addition to the shops decor.
The box signs great for sitting or hanging make the perfect gift for your secret pal, friend or that silent gift exchange.
Napkins of all colors and styles will make your table more inviting for family and guests.

I added a touch of the outdoors to another tree.
The twig stocking is a winner for your front door, bathroom, around your kitchen sink or place of choice to add just a touch of holiday cheer.
A couple of years or so ago one of my favorite visitors to the shop was Pat and J the author of Back Porch Musings. It's always fun to meet a fellow Missourian and blogger. They didn't come in a truck but a gorgeous Camaro.
 Welcome.......
I'm so happy you stopped by for a glimpse of my little corner of the world. The counter greets you as you come in the door, me I'm around it somewhere with a big hello. I wish all of you could come and join in the festivities. Did you find a favorite among the pictures? I'll close in saying this girl has got to scoot and get busy making treats for all of her guests.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

I'd say you've done an excellent job choosing items for your shop so no need to be nervous. Everything looks lovely, it would be so fun to have a browse there. My fave is the Believe pillow you've tucked in your first tree - looks like the perfect red for my living room décor this year!
