Summer Front Porch

I can't thank all of you enough for your sweet comments on my last post Tour Of My Shop. I'm very fortunate to be able to do something I love on a daily basis. The daily routine of displaying and ordering in new products never gets old to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed my little corner of the world. You can follow me on Face Book, Twitter and Instagram for daily updates of things around my home and the shop.

I recently shared A Little Update To the Front Porch if you missed that small update you can find it HERE.  I realized after posting I hadn't shared the full porch in it's entirety in a very long time if ever. What better time than now.

This is the view of the front of my home. One of the requirements when we built our home was I had to have a front porch. The porch is the full length of the house 68' and 10' deep. That's a 680 square feet of space to decorate and share with friends and family.
I'm standing in the front yard a fair distance from the front porch to get a full view of the front porch. Last summer was spent with the mule and a log chain pulling out bushes that were over grown or just looking bad. It was a lot of hard work but very rewarding. It truly cleaned up the look. I'll have to go back through the archives to find pictures of how it was to how it is now.
When I took
these pictures it was still on the cool side, I thought we might enjoy a cup of coffee. Today it's humid with a promise of temperatures in the upper 90's. I think that calls for iced lemon water or lemonade, I should have made some huh?
You'll find me and the pup out here each evening enjoying a good book and the serenity of our home.
Most of you know I love ferns. I've flanked the front door for years with a fern on either side. The last couple of years I've put them in urns instead of up on a pedestal. With the temperatures being on the cool side for so long it's taking them a while to truly strut their beauty. There isn't a time I don't go in and out the door that I don't admire their beauty. The out dated light is on the to-do list to be changed out sometime this year as well as the front glass screen door.
The south winds blow strongly around here at times, I'm fortunate I don't have any problems with anything getting blown off or damaged.  I've had the bakers rack for years, most of the accessories were collected over a period of time. The metal candlesticks host white candles and have endured the heat. After looking at the pictures I would say these need to be changed out for newer ones, they've been out here for over 3 years. The metal bunny sitting on top of an older style radio is played each day, a gal has got to have her tunes. It's not a very cohesive vignette and is on the list to be changed out and updated. I'm telling you folks I've really let a few things slip around here with good reason. The list is long and the hours in the days short, but trust and believe you'll see updated photos in the future stayed tuned.
The cushions were replaced a couple of years ago with these fabulously blue Ralph Lauren cushions. They are so comfy and have worn well.
Another requirement for the front porch was to have ceiling fans. That suggestion really got me the look, you know the one. You really need fans, what for look. After they were installed Mr. P admitted they were a good idea.  I replaced the original ones about 3 years ago, they weren't out door fans and had started to droop over the years. I chose these gorgeous Hampton Bay outdoor fans from Home Depot. The underneath blade color is black and flows easily with the black shutters and other black accessories on the porch.
You'll find many birdcages scattered here and there, I have quite a collection of them, I'll share close ups of those soon.
The metal orb has been around a very long time. Even though the opening isn't large I can usually find a little something to put inside.

The green and white cushions are new this year. I wanted another pop of color and felt the green and white fit the bill. The rugs came from Ballard's I think about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm still looking for the perfect table for in front of the settee. What would you choose?
You know my Miss Scooter isn't  going to be far away.

Another bakers rack filled with a mod podge of items. The cast iron kettle was a gift from mother many years ago, the ceramic pot another gift. The frog was painted in a ceramic class oh so many years ago. I realize bakers racks are out of style, but these work well to give the porch a symmetrical look.

Looking from the West end of the porch down towards the East you can see the expansive area.
Looking from the East end towards the West end.
The porch is the most used room of my home from early Spring to late Fall. During the hotter evenings the fans buzz over head giving off a cool breeze. I'm so glad you popped in to see the front porch. Let me know your thoughts, what would you do differently? I can see a few things I'll be changing. You know what that means, the vignette shuffle is about to begin.

Fondly ~ Lynne~

Your porch is beautiful just as it is, I wouldn't change a thing. I've always loved a front porch, and growing up in California, we always had one. It was nice when the neighbors would come by and say hi. Your home and property would be a place I would never want to leave!

Lynne, you have the best front porch. I'd spend hours on end sitting out there. Love seeing your beautiful wicker. I missed the shop tour, so I'm off to see. '-)

I would seriously be out there all day! What a beautiful (and huge) porch! It's like an extra room. I would love to have ferns like that but I kill all plants... Miss Scooter is adorable too!

What a pretty place to sit and enjoy the company of a friend and good conversation, or curl up with a book.
I would not change a thing.
Enjoy the weekend.

Absolutely perfect! Miss Scooter is the cutest finishing touch ever! :) She should be a permanent fixture! :)
I always said my pure white, long-haired kitty was the perfect fixture in my French Country/Victorian bedroom, lying on my rose-colored chair. She was so lovely, inside & out! After almost 3 years I still miss her.

How I would love to have the old metal patio cover removed and replaced with wood..but it's not going to happen..no ceiling fans for me...but..but...how about just one on the front porch? Yep. You guessed it, Lynne, I got "the look!" :) Your porch is ...just amazing.
Big hugs..

I love, LOVE,L O V E your front porch!!!
The covering and the fans would be an idea addition to my side of the Prairie, too!!!
Love the PoP of green within the new cushions and they blend well with the paisley pillows!!!
Miss Scotter reminds me so~o~o very much of the childhood dog of my sons. . .Corkie!!!
"Mr. Ed" began replacing the damaged deck boards last week, now the rains have slowed his progress. . .

Spwhat a wonderful porch! You've done a wonderful job decorating it and I'd be out there all the time too! No need to change a thing it's perfect! You mentioned wanting a table to go in front of the settee and my first thought was a trunk with a flat top. Miss Scooter is adorable. :-)
