There's a Bit of A Change Going On Around Here, "WARNING" Pictures May Be a Little Scary

There's been a few changes going on around here. The first of January I started tackling the daunting task of scrapping the nasty out dated popcorn ceilings. Can you say messy? Can you say chaos? Yes.. to all of those and so much more. However, as much as I like to have everything in place, the joy and pleasure I've had working on this project is beyond any description I can come up with. The living room was like this for a few weeks.      Now.. it looks entirely different.
Before I go forward

I can't not say loud enough or long enough how grateful I am to all of you who left encouraging comments on my last blog post. Your up lifting messages on the blog, Facebook, via text message and even a phone call or two, lifted my spirits. My heart was so hurt by a couple of messages left on the blog,  I holed up in bed for a couple of days. Then I realized it's easy for someone to be brave behind a computer screen and not close up and personal to your face. I've moved on from their hurtful comments, the delete button is a wonderful thing. I will no longer entertain the thought of them coming into my space or mind to ruin my memories or the happiness I'm finding now.

So... onto today's post. The master bedroom is the first room where I began scrapping ceilings. The room was drapped and taped off . I don't have any of the pictures of the mess on the floor, trust me when I say it was quite messy, thank goodness for plastic. After the scrapping of the popcorn, there was a lot of sanding.
Then the prep began for the ceiling guy to come mud and smooth out the sheet rock seams.
After that process it was brought to my attention the crown molding had not been properly installed. Nail holes weren't filled it had a wavy effect to it, so... that had to be taken back up to the ceiling to make things nice and tight. See the arrow, that's how far off the crown was, now it's up where it belongs, no wavy effect and flush to the ceiling. All of the area directly underneath the crown molding had to be sanded before the painting of the walls began. After filling all the nail holes that were never filled I began polishing the crown molding, I can hardly wait to share how nice and clean it all looks now.
While I was scrapping the bedroom ceiling I was also working on the master bath ceiling. I was not letting any grass grow under this girls feet. lol
I've got to say scrapping the ceiling over the garden tub was a challenge, you sure had to watch where you were stepping.
The cabinet over the commode will be moved opening up the cavernous area.

Again, more fixing of the crown molding. Lots of filling of nail holes that weren't filled and then a lot of sanding and polyurethane to bring the luster of the wood back. The concentrator had run in this room for over 11 years and had dried out the wood so badly, now it's clean and the grain of the wood is more gorgeous than it had been in a very long time.
Another small area to be filled and repaired.
The room set like this for a bit and now....
After painting, the room looks like this now. Some change huh? WELL..... now part of the living room furniture is being housed in here while I work on the living room ceiling. The larger pieces of furniture are in the dining room. I'm getting closer by the day for at least a full room reveal. I worked all of this past weekend on painting the living room ceilings and got all of the walls painted but the stairwell. I hope to start painting on it this evening.
I know it's a long slow messy process, but I'm truly enjoying the process. I have a couple of  finishing touches going on in the master bath then "hopefully" will be able to share that reveal. I hope you all hang with me and have patience and swing back by for the reveal.

Fondly ~ Lynne ~

Isn't it weird how something that sounds so awful can actually be enjoyable? I hate the thought of painting, but when I'm doing it, part of me enjoys it.

I can't wait to see the finished rooms!

Good for you, at least you almost have half done, so its going to look fantastic afterwards. I know how long these things take.. for my husband it all has to be done properly, where as I am a slap it on type person, he must do it just like a professional decorator. so that takes a lot more time, but I must admit the results are impressive. I love moving things around the room and getting a different angle looking out of the windows and doors. I am coming back soon, to see how the finished room will look... bye for now, J

Wow - You really took on a huge project and doing a great job! I would have never attempted something like that, even when was physically able.
Sorry to read some hid behind their computer screens, and were unkind. That seems to be a common occurrence these days in the world of social media. :(

Wow Lynne I'm truly impressed with your will and perseverance to do this! It's hard work to do all that scraping plus the added work with the crown molding issue! I've never taken on a big project like this on my own. You must be so proud and excited with the new results!

I did the same thing you are doing after I lost Patrick. I papered and painted and decorated and it really helps. It kept me busy..gave me a goal each day. It pleased me to see it all come together. You are doing great and things are really coming along. Enjoy. We seem to slowly learn we can do thing we could never do before. I found I was stronger and more capable than I ever knew. :)
It's on it's way to being beautiful Lynne. I want so badly to remove that "cottage cheese" ceiling in our home but it seems to be too much of a project for PH so I just leave it.
Yep..going to be gorgeous!
