Christmas In The Kitchen

 My goodness what a year makes. I was meeting myself coming and going a year ago trying to get the house ready for the kids to come home Christmas, never realizing what the rest of the year would bring. I've had a few long talks with myself, struggling to decorate for the holidays this year.  My inner self gave in. Mr. P knew that Christmas is my favorite season to decorate for. He would tease me mercilessly and I loved every bit of it. What I wouldn't give to hear that sweet voice this year.  I hope he would be pleased I've chosen to decorate the house this year for Christmas. Are you finding it hard to get motivated to decorate this year, or have you gone over the top or just kept things simple?

As I've said many times before the hutch in the breakfast room is one of my favorite pieces. You can load it up with a lot of decor or keep it light and airy.

in and out. The center of the top shelf is highlighted with the platter my Granddaughter gave me last year. She was picking up a few other things sent me a picture and asked if I liked it, naturally I said I "loved" it. The sweet bunny under the tree stole my heart. The platter is from the line by Better Homes and Gardens sold at Walmart this time of the year.

I have a secret crush on bottle brush trees. I have many and have them scattered through out the house this year. The set of three were purchased on a recent trip to Nell Hill's. If you've never been to Nell Hill's you must put it on your bucket list of things to do.  Soon I'll be sharing a few pictures I took while she was having her Open House. You'll be blown away with all of her beautiful trees. I had the nicest visit with her while there, she is one genuinely kind and helpful person.

I've been collecting the set of Better Home and Garden plates for a while now. I've been a good girl this year and haven't purchased any. The green trees came from a local Hallmark store before closing a few years ago.

I was fortunate to be able to carry the darling snowman with children in the shop for a couple of years. I love snowmen and the children reminded me of my granddaughter and grandson.

Because we live in the real world, I had to share a picture of the table top, BEFORE the runner was added. It dawned on me after I took all the pictures the table looked a little bare.. hmmm some times I wonder where my brain is.

That's much better. The red quilted runner grounds the centerpiece giving it a bit more presence.

This is one end of the kitchen all decked out for Christmas, in order not to make it too picture heavy I'll be sharing it in stages. I hope you stay tuned for those pictures I didn't go over the top but managed to add touches here and there of some Christmas cheer.
