Christmas At The Back Door

Happy Winter everyone! Our day has been yet another cloudy drizzly one. I'm beginning to think Mother Nature has forgotten her happy face and shining down on as brightly as I know she can. This is the shortest day and longest night of the year, maybe tomorrow will bring us a change with some sun. However, I believe the forecast says rain.

Plaid seems to have taken me over this season. I've placed and replaced every ribbon from years past with this delightful home spun plaid ribbon.
The sleigh has
leaned against the house next to the Victorian mail box the last couple of years. A while back I found the skates on Etsy. I looked and looked until I could find a white pair in my size. Not that I plan on skating anytime soon, just one of my OCD moments.

Before the Shop's Open House I spent a Sunday afternoon cutting fresh greens for all of the outside urns. They flowed heavily over the edges. In the center I put the metal piece of Christmas art. When I purchased it I wasn't really sure where it would land, I think it's perfect to welcome guests reminding them to find Joy.

Even the Labrador pup got a festive bow. I sure wish I could find a Scottie dog this size.
The reds seem to pop off  the gray siding. Then I got the wild hair to work on a project, this is before my Grandin Road copy cat  project.
The copy cat Santa boots  landed here at the base of the Victorian mail box.

I moved the small table over this year a tad closer, there isn't the worry of a lot of traffic coming and going and it feels a bit more welcoming to me. I used the same lantern and tree as last year, just changed out the ribbon to the gorgeous plaid ribbon adding a bit of whimsy with a few trailing berries and greens.  Along with the pine cones in the bottom of the lantern I popped in a bit of red with left over ornaments.
We had a bit of snow the other morning, it was so pretty. It didn't last long but afforded me the opportunity to get a few shots of it laying gracefully on the out door decor.

I'm so pleased with the way it all came together. Hopefully this time next year I'll have a new up to date light fixture. One more thing added to the long list of things to do.
I'm so glad you popped in to view the back entry Christmas decor. I hope you enjoyed viewing it as much as I enjoyed sharing with you. Remember to Pin this to your Christmas board. You can follow me on Pinterest HERE.

How warm, cozy and inviting! I'm loving the plaids this Christmas. I even bought myself a plaid purse! In fact, I was also looking for ribbon tonight and all I could find was a shiny plaid with gold throughout. I do not care for that and would much prefer the kind you have --- it looks almost woolen in the pics, is that how it is in real life? It's lovely!
