November's Early Beauty

November has rolled into our part of the country beautifully. Yesterday it was a gorgeous 64 degrees. Today the winds are howling.
Yesterday after I closed
the shop I couldn't resist taking a walk. Not long after I got outside I had to go back and retrieve the camera, the tempting beauty of the Pampas Grass was calling out for a photo shoot.

Mr. P put the small pond in front about 15 years ago. The little bridge is beginning to show some age, the patina makes it all the more interesting. The memory of the day he dug the hole and made the steel bass is so fresh to me. I spent a great deal of time this summer pulling and cutting out volunteer trees and a few weeds. The area is a bit more clean and inviting now.

As I walked back toward the house the ferns took my breath away. It's been quite a long time that I've had ferns on the front porch in November and them still thrive. They say come Tuesday we could get a possible winter mix. Say it ain't so! I'm not quite ready for all that nonsense.

Another shot I couldn't resist taking. The beauty of the sun shining on the fall throws threw off a warm and welcome invite to come inside.

I've been a busy elf in the shop preparing for the Holiday Open House Event, the 14th -16th. I have a bit of tweaking to do, goodies to bake then I can I'm ready for the guests. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic about the Open House this year. I've had the shop open 16 years this month, and crafted on the road for 14 before that. This is the first time Mr. P isn't here to cheer me on, eat the cookies as soon as they come out of the oven, and hold me when I'm feeling a bit down and worried about the out come. I'm trying my best to put on a good front and most days do ok, this week has been one of feeling a bit down. Miss Scooter must be feeling the blues as well thankfully she sticks by my side. SO, with that being said, I'll have a few pictures to share with you next week of the shop all decked out for the holidays, I wish all of you could pop in, at least you'll be able to see it via the blog. I hope you stop by and let me know what you think.
Fondly ~ Lynne ~

Wonderful photos. We are truly having a beautiful fall here in MO. I too have ferns still hanging on my porch and annuals still in my pots. Glad you and Miss Scooter are hanging out together. Know your shop is going to be breathtaking.

Dear Lynne,

I have been remiss, posting and visiting so randomly lately. I hope to get back to normal soon. Your pictures are so pretty as usual, and I often admire you for keeping busy.. That's always a cure all for me. Please stay in touch...again, I've been a bad blogger!

Love to you.

You got some great shots of the colors of Fall - thanks for sharing. Your ferns are huge - so pretty! Mine are covered in leaves from the hickory nut tree now, and judging from next weeks forecast that will be the end of mine. Looking forward to seeing pics and hearing about your open house.
Enjoy your weekend.

Your pictures are beautiful. My ferns still look great. They are on a covered porch so maybe that's why. We have had some unusual weather in Tennessee this fall .Even some snow last weekend in higher elevations. Don't ever remember snow this early. Looking forward to seeing your shop decorated for the holidays. You and Miss Scooter hang in there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Glenda, Do you gather the hickory nuts to decorate with? Our forecast doesn't look too promising either, not ready for cold.
