Creating a Quite Spot

Hello everyone, I hope all of you had a wonderful Fourth this past weekend with friends and family. Mine was spent quietly, well sort of. I was busy moving things around, hanging and rehanging pictures, filling nail holes well You get the picture. Anything to keep my mind and hands busy. Miss Scooter did not miss a beat and followed me the whole day, love that I have her as a constant shadow.
While moving things around I decided
a few chairs needed to find a new home. The light bulb effect finally went off in my head and I got busy shuffling things around. If you've followed the blog for a while or a new visitor welcome, you know I love my "stuff", over the course of the last few months I've discovered less is more, meaning less items sometimes make a larger statement. You can view the room before HERE.
I brought in the antique chair from the master it's the perfect marriage joining the black and white toile with the small leaf print of the chair. The corner is no longer crowded, there's plenty of room to get around the bed to the other side. Before it was way too tight, although I loved the chair in the room for the up lift of color I felt it was time for it to find a new home. I can't wait to show you that reveal. :-)

The top of the dresser took on a new look as well, less objects easier for your eyes to take in the full beauty of it all.

The other side of the room showcases the refurbished gun cabinet as a hutch for more pretties.
A picture of my mother and her sister my Aunt Mary as children and a vintage hat pulls the top of the vignette together.
Cozy and sweet, just enough room for you to pull the ottoman around put your feet up enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a good book, the perfect quite spot in the guest room, fondly known as Grandma's room.

That looks so good- love the bed set up in the spot you have it- and it's a fantastic bed! I like that chair and it does go well with the toile fabric. I like a chair to sit on to help with socks and shoes. I have a chair in my room but it ends up with the bedding stuff on it! I like the artwork you've chosen for the room and the different vignettes you've created.

Lynn, You always put so much thought into your home whether its for seasonal changes or just day to day living. I think a lot of us are wanting to pare down what we have on display. Maybe it's because we are entering the hot time of year and it feels heavier. Your home is beautiful! Think of you and know your heart feels heavy at times. Grief is hard and so personal. Just know that those of us that read your posts think of you often! Hugs, Pam

Thank you so much Liz, this room has been a fun room to decorate, it's seen a lot of changes over the last 17 years.

Glenda, Miss Scooter is "constantly" by my side, cries like a baby if I leave the room, I'm so thankful to have her around to help fill the long hours with.

Lynne dear, your home is a dream home! Just gorgeous and exactly what I love. I also wanted to say your little doggie companion is so unreal that for a moment I thought she wasn't real. I have always been a huge fan of your decorating and have never been able to achieve the look you have. It's lovely. Your porch was another beautiful thing to see as the seasons passed. And..of course your store front. :)
Hugs,
Mona

Lynne,
I love the addition of the chair within this gorgeously arranged Guest Room, dear friend!
What a wonderful idea of repurposing the gun cabinet into a display cabinet!!!
The vignette with the hat and vintage photo is precious and very Edwardian Era.
I adore the vignette atop the black dresser! Elegantly done!
Thank you for sharing this lovely room in your home.
Give Miss Scooter a pat from me!
Fondly,
Pat

My pinning finger is in motion this afternoon, Lynne! You just gave me 2 great ideas for decorating around here. I have a couple of sconces in both the entry hall and the dining room that I'm always looking to dress up. I also like the way the top of the gun cabinet is decorated. Thanks for the ideas!!!

I hope you're doing well. Take care and have a wonderful, quiet week!

Hello Lynne! I haven't stopped by in WAY too long and I really have no reason or excuse! I looked back through old e-mails we wrote back and forth, and commented on each other's blogs in 2011 and 2012 ! Time flies! I love all things toile, so I obviously love the beautiful bedroom. And that plate with the bunnies on it?? TOO CUTE!! (Also love your doggy!)
