~ Is it Spring or Is it Winter ? ~

Growing up as a child I heard the old saying
if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it will change. Living in Missouri we're fortunate to enjoy all four seasons. Normally we get the usual Beautiful Springs, Hot Summer, Most times Beautiful Falls and Sometimes Rough Winters. This year our weather has certainly been one for the books.
On Wednesday I spent all of the afternoon working outside the shop area. I noticed my Flowering Crabappple Trees were finally starting to bloom. Everything in my area is about 2 weeks behind.

The creeping phlox were blooming, starting to spread over the edge of the sidewalk, such a welcome site.
It was then time to begin decorating the patio for Spring and the long hot Summer days I know is right around the corner. I brought out some pottery, you know I gravitate towards blue and white. A timeless color that goes with any decor.
The ferns were brought "back" out, they are growing like gang busters, despite the fact they've been taken in and out more times than I can count.
The grapevine wreath got a new burlap bow and a few twigs added for more texture.
I've been sewing like crazy and have made several new pillows for this area as well as the front porch. Another urn to top off the small baker's rack in the corner for height. I'm not sure if if will stay or a flowing white plant to take it's place. Naturally, another fern, I can't get enough of these beauties. I knew the weather was calling for falling temperatures, rain, and snow.... so everything was brought back inside once again.
Thursday May 2nd around noon the heavy rains hit, around 5:15 or so we had heavy heavy sleet. Then the snow began.

My poor tulips, they were so pretty the other day, standing tall reaching for the sky, look at these babies today, surrounded by snow. You can view that post HERE. What a difference a couple of days can make.

The last couple of pictures were taken this morning, with snow coming down and the promise of rain moving in, the snow should disappear quickly, onward and upward to Spring like temperatures the first of the week, as fickle as our weather has been I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. Remember we live in Missouri, if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes it will change.
Fondly, ~Lynne~

Oh, poor tulips! Our school was canceled today because of snow. I think that was a first for May!The snow has been heavy and wet and many tree limbs are falling. Power is off around town in various places. We're lucky and still have power, but the cable TV is off. I have a pot of chili simmering on the stove and am about to begin reading my book club book; it's a perfect day for chili and books!

No snow here, but it is chilly! Texas can be like that too. The weather can change overnight from hot to freezing. Sorry your spring was so abruptly interrupted.

Enjoy your weekend.
