~ The Round Black Table ~

Hello my friends, Do you have a corner you've been trying to fill up  I mean decorate? One that you just can't seem to get right? I find myself with these issues more times than I care to admit. I sometimes try to over think the process, once I walk away and leave it for a bit, the light switch comes on and the solution comes to my over thinking brain.
In the
dining room there's a small corner next to the black hutch that for too many years had a metal urn. During the changing seasons you would find all sorts of flowers spilling out and down the sides. During the holidays I moved things around to make room for the tree and the many suitcases that flowed across the floor. I moved the urn to another area and the black table was moved to the corner, and sat untended for a while. You know one thing leads to another and before I realized it, I had found the perfect solution to my little corner decorating problem. Don't you love when that happens?
Once I decided the table would stay in the corner, I shopped the house to find just the perfect items to decorate the top of the table. It's no secret I love blue and white, throw in silver and you have a timeless vignette. The glass trophy was borrowed from the hutch to fill out the tray. With the friendship plaque in the background the table top vignette feels more complete.
With Easter around the corner I brought out the blue and white eggs I purchased from Wisteria last year. The eggs have different patterns on each of them, I tried to turn the one with the rabbit on it to have more of a presence and the little stinker would not cooperate. They add some whimsical charm to the silver tray.
The small blue vase was purchased off E Bay a couple of years ago. It was one of those random finds, a bargain and a beauty all wrapped into one small package.
With the light on the glow is amazing, I failed to get a night shot to share with all of you, "bad blogger". The corner has a gentleness about it, a calming effect, one that makes me smile each time I stop and take in it's beauty.

My beloved rabbit lamp was moved from the buffet to the corner. No, it wasn't bad, it wasn't being punished, it now takes it's place of honor on the table. The wire chicken mesh design is incredible. When you look at the lamp it truly appears as if the rabbit and cabbage are behind real wire chicken mesh.
Can we say cute? Oh my goodness I can recall the first time I spotted the lamp, I was immediately over the top in love with this beauty. One of those rare purchases I HAD to have, it was calling my name. I had to do some negotiating the day of the purchase for it to fit my budget, trust me when I say I couldn't get out of the store quick enough to get this beauty home.
Behind the table the small wall show cases my beautiful rabbit picture. I was saw the picture in a gift store, fell in love until I saw the price, it was outrageous! I was having a small melt down of envy and couldn't get the picture out of my head. My girlfriend called and told me to check out J.C. Penney's catalog, remember when they were mailed  to you and they were quite large in size?  She said check out the lamps and picture section, not knowing why, I did as instructed and was so glad I did. There on the left side of the page was this beautiful picture, the price was right, to top it off it was on sale, they had free shipping, you know I immediately called and placed the order, that was almost 16 years ago. I never tire of looking at the picture and the pleasure it gives me is insurmountable.

The only thing that would make this corner complete is the addition of new draperies. I'm searching almost daily for what I have in mind at a price I can afford. I know all of you know what I'm talking about, the right thing will come a long, once it does you'll be the first ones to know. My decorating problem was solved just by shopping the house, no money was spent for this beautifully decorated corner.

I laughed about your quest to find the perfect draperies - only because I am still trying to find the perfect piece of art for my kitchen, which was renovated three years ago. Yes, there is a blank wall (actually, two!) in my kitchen. However, I have decided not to compromise! Love your corner vignette and the rabbit lamp and painting are fabulous!
