~ Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay ~

What does a person do when they're feeling nostalgic and missing their kids like crazy? They pour through pictures. The memories flood over us like Niagara Falls. Over the weekend while cleaning up the computer of unwanted files, I had one of those Niagara Fall's moments. My daughter and grandson moved to North Carolina this past April. They both love the area, with each email, text, picture and phone call they sound as if they're on a virtual vacation all the time. It would have broke my heart if the move wasn't as pleasant for them as it is. It's been tough on Mr. P and myself the grandson has been here almost every weekend since the day he was born. The joy he's brought into our lives cannot be described in words. This little guy has such a gentle caring soul. To have them home Christmas for 14 days was incredible. Thank goodness I have pictures to enjoy any time I like.
It's going to be a while before I can dangle my feet...
My
heart strings are tugging me towards to the lake....
To shove the boat off the grass and into the water...
This picture was taken a couple of years back, my Bailey will be 13 in June, where has the time flown to? I'll miss having my little buddy join me while we cast a line or two.
The weathered bench holds so many memories.
The picnic has been loaded down quite a few times full of picnic goodies. The smell of hot dogs on the grill filled the air as laughter rang out across the lake. We sure got our work out in paddling the paddle boat around the lake.

The feeling of nostalgia took over as I poured through pictures and all the memories they evoke. The lake my refuge is calling my name, come on Spring.

It'll get here...it'll get here. What is that quote? Something like "God gave us memories so that we may have roses in December". We have to smell the roses we have now and patiently await Spring. As for missing the kids, I'm afraid there is no quote or cure for that. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" is a crock. I'm sorry it's so painful for you.

Oh I do so know how it is to have grandchildren and our children far away from home. It definitely does tug away at the heart strings. Such precious memories to hold on to, and great pics. Hugs, Marty

I know that pain. Our children are in Oregon and Texas. Way too far from Indiana. Thank goodness we have email, texting and skype!

I surely do sympathize with you - my little grandson and granddaughter moved away a few months ago also. I am happy for the new job opportunity for my son and daughter-in-law, but selfishly sad for myself. Such is life. Now I know what my mother went through when I moved away with my own children. You were blessed to have had so much time together.
