~ Impromptu Table ~

The last couple of days we've been snow bound, a perfect time to do some major cleaning, catch up on a couple of projects and put together an impromptu table for two.  Seeing all the white outside I was craving a bit of color on the inside.
Setting a table
doesn't have to be expensive. I ran across these colorful dishes at the Dollar Tree. They magically jumped into my cart, not to make a scene I quietly pushed the cart to the check out counter paid for them and got the heck out of dodge before any other dishes found their way into my cart. ( I'm like a magnet they have tendency to to that)
The balance of bright colors with stripes can be a challenge, if over done it's like the best cut of steak burned to a crisp, done just right you have a mouth watering steak you can't get enough of.

Bright colored place mats ground the colorful dishes, red flatware with matching napkins put a finishing touch on a bright and happy table setting.

The grape filled cabbage shape bowl has a simple understated beauty.

The wooden sign hanging between the living area and dining room has been a favorite of mine for years. Nothing like feeling comfortable enough to sit around the table and do just that:

Sit Long Talk Much Laugh A Lot.

A great motto to live by daily.

I spotted the new forecast for the first of the week, looks like doctors appointments will be cancelled, I won't take a chance driving in Kansas City if it isn't necessary. Looks like I'll be working on another project or two.

Nice bright, cheery table...at least the sun is out today even though it is cold...why oh why are we getting another storm right off, we just got dug out!
Hope your weekend is a great one, Lynne.

Nice finds! I am past due for a trip to DT, and I try to keep my distance from the area where the dishes are. No room left in my abode. :) Like the bowl of grapes. I have lots of them hanging around my kitchen/dining area, but not as many as I use to have.
Sorry about the forecast. :/ We are suppose to get rain (again) on Monday.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Your table is so pretty and just the right amount of color! You are going to have a lot of fun in the summer with these dishes, too. They'd make a great outdoor tablescape. Love the glasses, too. I definitely need some Dollar Tree therapy! ;-D

Jane

Hi Lynn! This table looks great! I just bought those pretty yellow bowls from Dollar Tree myself this week and they're in my current tablescape on my blog too! Love them! I really like how you put all these together! =)

You have definitely bought some color inside! Love all of the bright colors. I so wish that my Dollar Tree had such pretty things. I think we are in one of those areas that the stores pretty much ignore. I used to find great things at Cracker Barrel. I went by the other day and there was virtually no china. When I asked about the lack of merchandise, I was told they are now a "Baby Barrel" and do not get the things they used to carry. Oh well, Atlanta is not too far away! Thanks for sharing your pretty table!

It may be snowy outside, but your table looks so summery! Thanks for the photos - I'm inspired to change over to some spring decorating :)
