~Winter Mercury and Ice Tablescape

As afternoon clouds move in I'm glad to be home and back inside, man alive it is cold out there. I am NOT a cold weather person, I prefer being outside when the grass is green and the temperatures a whole lot warmer. Once things were unloaded and put away I got busy working on a post and blogger started acting all wackadoodle on me. Not only is it difficult for you to leave comments now it's difficult for me to upload pictures and put a post together. Scream, scream!! Guess this is the life of a blogger huh?

UP DATE:  A big thank you to Debbie@confessionsofaplateaddict for all your help this afternoon. Keeping fingers crossed we've gotten to the root of the problem with the pop up occurring. It was a program that has been on the lap top since 2010, it is now removed. Please if anyone see's the pop up when trying to leave a message or visit the blog please email and let me know.

Now let's move onto more things like playing with dishes, candles and flowers.
My passion
for collecting mercury glass is the perfect starting point for this table. The beautiful glitzy pieces rest on the crochet tablecloth my Aunt Mary started and Mother finished. I feel so lucky to be the caregiver of this timeless piece of art. Do any of you crochet? I do with yarn, not with thread, I'm not sure what the difference is, but my big ole fingers just don't work well with crochet thread.
I don't recall where I purchased the Waterford China, a beautiful white with a silver diamond shape motif mimics the diamond napkin ring holder. After all diamonds are a girl's best friend.
A icy effect from a glass shaped snowball tops off a silver serving piece. Another way to add a touch of dimension to your table.

I bought the knife rests from Horchow quite a while back, until now I really hadn't had a chance to use them in a tablescape. The duck rest lends a bit of whimsy to an over the top classy feeling table.
So romantic.
Flatware is by Oneida.

More sparkle.

Even though the "faux" candle is on a timer, surrounded by ice cubes it gives the mercury glass compote a bit more sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by today to view the Winter Mercury and Ice Tablescape.

Lynne,
Oh this is so~o~o romantic, dear friend!!!
I love, love, love every detail...the hand crocheted tablecover, the siver, crystal, china, flatware, stemware...exquisite!!! How cute are those duck knife rest??? Too cute!!!
The use of ice cubes (faux, right?) in the mercury glass adds to the Winter theme of your tablescape! White with silver and green. . . done in elegance!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Oooooooh, Lynne.....pretty! You really amped up the sparkle and shine!!! Your "diamond ring" napkin rings are really unique with the stones all the way around and that "belonged to my great-great-Grandmother" look. SO pretty! I love the knife rests, too! People just don't use those a lot anymore, but I put them on the table whenever I can, especially when I know I'm going to have less-than-graceful men dining with us. Saves the rims of my china from getting chinked! I don't know what's going on with Blogger, but I've heard several people say they've been having big time problems, especially with loading up photos. I hope you guys were able to completely work out the kinks on your site. It's going to get blistering cold here tonight and tomorrow. I'm staying put in my flannel jammies! Stay warm!!!

HI Lynne, Your table is so pretty! I can crochet anything but I absolutely cannot knit beyond the first row!! I drop stitches, or it gets too tight or too loose... I hope your blogger problems are over. Linda

Gorgeous, Lynne! I love all the sparkle and shine -- the candlelit shots are especially wonderful! And what a treasure that crocheted tablecloth is! I crochet a bit, but have never attempted anything larger than a Christmas tree ornament using crochet thread. The patience that tablecloth must have taken! Glad you're enjoying using it.
