~Decorating the Back Door For Guests ~

You've heard the old saying back door guests are the best? Our back door has been the main entrance to our home for the last 16 years. Although I have the beautiful front porch I literally live on during the Spring, Summer and Fall months of the year, I rarely decorate it for the Christmas holidays. I guess you can say it's a 3 season porch.
If you've been a visitor to the blog for long
you know I love my "stuff". With the area between the garage door and the patio door having a large span it gives me the luxury of filling it up with a lot of "stuff". I try to be mind full of the dogs and guests, but lets face it, the more the better this time of year. Right? All those that agree can shake their heads yes, smile and leave kind comments. lol
The large urn planter came from I believe Sam's club neon years ago. I splurged that day and bought 2. One for the back door and one is down by the shop. The dog figurine again purchased oh so many years ago as been moved to accommodate Mr. Murphy dog that has a tendency to get tangled up around him and doing nothing but bark. I felt it needed a bit of Christmas cheer so added a red and white plaid ribbon around his neck. Kind of makes him more festive don't you think?

Due to all the dry weather we've had the cypress branches as well as the flowering cherry berries aren't lasting as long as I'd hoped, I'll have to cut a few new ones this weekend to give it more of fresh look. The branches were picked up out of the yard and spray painted white. They've been done for a long time and have held up well. So, if you're wanting to add a bit of spice to your planters, add some twigs and branches out of your yard. Spray your branches with white paint and watch your friends go ahhhh over your talent.

Continuing the pine cone decor from the inside, you can see where that all started HERE, I added some to the cast iron planter. Thinking it needed just a bit more spice I added the silver glitter bells.

By this time, Miss Scooter has had more than enough of this decorating stuff, just look at her face. Talk about the evil eye, I was sure getting it.
