~ Another Dough Bowl ~

This past weekend I spent the majority of my time working outside. The weather was perfect for mowing, trying to get the yard in shape and put to sleep for the winter months. That doesn't mean it didn't leave time for a bit of playing inside.
Mr. P sits at the kitchen table a lot. The centerpiece
needs to be low enough for him to be able to see the T.V. and work the controls as effortlessly as possible. Trying to come up with something low enough and fall like was a challenge until I remembered the collection of dough bowls. Having used one of the dough bowls for apples, you can review that post HERE, I chose another one, lighter in color and smaller in size to hold the pumpkins and bittersweet.

The aged patina on the bowl is so refined. If only the wood could talk, the story it might tell.
Bittersweet branches from my stash adds texture as well as another color. I so want to put fresh bittersweet around, honestly I don't know what it looks like before it turns. I've been told you can find it in fence rows, someday I'll get more adventuresome and go looking. The pumpkins and gourds are fresh from a local vendor.

Mr. P didn't say a word about this centerpiece, so it must have passed his approval. :-)) Have you put together your fall centerpiece yet? Are you going over the top with tall stemmed flowers or keeping low and more simple?
I encourage everyone
to find what makes
you happy and useful
Embrace it and
make it work
for you.
Hugs ~ Lynne ~

Lynne, I love your dough bowl! I am on the lookout for one at a reasonable price. Yours looks wonderful all dressed in fall's bounty! Perfect for a low centerpiece!

My only touch of Fall around here is a centerpiece very similar to yours -- a dough bowl with pumpkins, etc. I'm into as little of effort as possible this year. Enjoy your Fall. Sally

And it is very pretty! I love the old wooden bowls - don't you know they could tell some stories. I should have done more Fall decorating I guess, but just could not get to moving.
Have a great week.

Great minds think alike. I also love to use elongated dough bowls for centerpieces. I love the combination that you used with the gourds & bittersweet branches. The ghost pumpkins really allow the branches to pop. I love the texture the branches add. Now I will be searching for the bittersweet. We went apple picking this weekend and I have one large bowl filled with red & green apples (how they last awhile) and the other I filled with a realistic leaf garland and then piled up mix color gourds - beautiful & simple. You can beat nature when it comes to decorating.
I can appreciate the limitations that TV viewing on your decorating, but you achieved a great look and the Mr. can still see - Kudos to you.

Oh how I want one of those bowls...fantastic.
I have a huge cornicopia on my table. It is my husband's favorite decoration for Fall. First thing he brings in...so, I enjoy it for his sake...I would prefer a bowl like yours...but, ya know, he does live here too!!
