~ Miniature Blues ~

Many years ago I went antiquing with my Aunt almost every weekend. Oh how I miss those days. Shopping on EBay and Etsy are fine and fun, but there's something about going through an antique mall. Antiquing with someone that has the same loves as you do makes the adventure lively and a lot more interesting.
One particular Sunday we were cruising the isles at antique mart Aunt Patty spied this beautiful mirrored shadow box. She said I really needed to buy it. Well, I looked and studied and thought what on earth am I going to do with this? After a "tiny" bit more prodding she convinced me to bring it home.
With the shelving being narrow in size I searched high and low for miniatures. Over the period of years there's been many things sitting on these shelves, for a while it was stored away.
I added a few butter pats I scored off EBay.

The small brass candlestick holders and cute bunny I've had for years. The blue and white trinket box was purchased last summer on a day trip to Atchison. The vintage silver trinket box belonged to my mother.
From the side it looks like someone took a frame, made a box, added a mirror and shelves to make the shadow boxed mirror. I don't believe it's an antique but a treasure all the same.
I thought the top needed a little something, something so I added the small silver tray.
This little beauty presently hangs on a wall just before you come into my office from the gift shop area. It's hard to say if it will stay here, you know me things don't stay in the same place for long around here.

I love that the shadow box and it's denizens mark your journey....filled with wonderful memories. ..your shopping trips with your aunt...your mom...perhap a small gift from your sweet Bill. A three dimensional history. I was guessing that the trip to Atchison meant a visit to Nell Hills and Garrity's. Thanks for sharing a snippet of your story with us. I just became your newest follower. Cherry Kay
