~ Adding Some Blue in the Dining Room ~

A while back I changed out a few things in the dining room. Many of you know I'm switching gears in this room, adding some Equestrian/Hunt themed items. Recently I shared a few of those changes HERE and HERE. In those posts you can see the addition of some blue along with the dark chocolate browns.
I changed out the hutch quite a while back and realized I hadn't shared those changes with you. The first couple of pictures you'll see it's winter look. This is a difficult room to photograph. The metal chandelier is "always" in the way or the lighting just isn't quite right. I hope you enjoy seeing the subtle changes made to the hutch.
Even though I love these plates and the serene setting it was time to lighten things up for the hot Summer months.
I chose the blue and white plates by J&G Meakin, England.
From the back of the Plate:
Romantic England
Derby Shire
Haddon Hall
Dates From 11TH Century
Dorothy Vernon Eloped
From Haddon 16th Century
With John Manners
Heir to Earl of Rutland
I didn't want to smother the hutch will all blue and silver so I opted to leave the white pitcher collection and other finery.
I love the romance the pair of Silver Quail give the hutch. I still haven't decided whether to put them away for the summer or leave them out. What are your thoughts? Leave them out or put them away?
The cobalt blue decanter set was a gift from Mother and Daddy almost 32 years ago. It's been in storage for most of those years, I was always afraid it might get broken. With few people coming to the house any longer, now was the right time to bring it out and enjoy it's beauty.

Double handled soup bowl was purchased in Atchison a year or so ago.
I have this love for soup tureens lately, I see a tablescape in my future.

Mixing old with the new is a favorite of mine. The new "glass" trophies work well with the antique silver compote.

I just noticed the empty cloches on top of the hutch -- what a great idea. I've been trying to figure out where to store mine when not in use covering something -- my biggest one doesn't fit in any cupboard!! Even though your black & white haystack plates are among my favorites, I do really like the blue! Have a great week. Sally

I love all your blue and white pieces, Lynne! I especially love the double handled soup bowl and the soup tureen. The silver looks great with it, too. I would leave the silver pheasants out. They contribute to the silver look and the hunt theme you want to bring in.

Oh my, you DO have some treasures! I love the blue and silver and white. The quail pair = adorable . I have a pair too but they are pottery. In my yard I have - and - I am not exaggerating over 100 quail. Well they live in the blackberry bushes but they come out and tippy-toe about all the time. Love!

The blue and white looks so pretty - perfect for summer. The decanter is such a treasure. It reminds me of one my Grandmother had, she loved in dearly. The quail must stay - love them, too!

The blu/white is a beautiful touch. I love the silver quails, I say leave them out. And your decanter set is an elegant touch. What a treasure to have for 32 yrs.

Elegant! I keep my not in use cloches clustered on top of a hutch too.

THanks or joining Midweek Blues this week. Boy do I love your blue plates. I collect individual place settings of transferware. For Easter this year, everyone had a plate with a blue and white design - all different. It is so much fun to play with. I do like the lift in gave your hutch.
