~ Prep Begins For the Annual Mushroom Festival ~

The Annual Mushroom Festival is held the first weekend of May each year. Typically we don't make it through the festival without at least one down pour, high winds or cold temperatures. This year is no exception, we've had rains off and on leading up to the weekend of the festival. Folks around here are just like the mailman, nothing detours them from enjoying all the festivities, (except for lightening, everyone scatters for safe quarters).

So, if morel mushrooms are what you are craving -- Richmond is the place to be! The next Mushroom Festival will be held on May 4 and May 5, 2012 in Downtown Richmond, Missouri.

The festival isn't all about mushrooms, however. There's over 130 tempting food and craft booths, carnival, parade, Motorcycle Show, Antique Tractor Show, live Christian Music Shows, Juried Fine Arts and Photography Show, youth tractor pull, talent contest, 5K FunGus Run, Little Mister and Miss Mushroom Contest, Beer Garden featuring Teacher'z Pet and more activities sprawling through the historic district during the two-day event.

The Annual Mushroom Festival is held the first weekend of May and we strive to make it the biggest and the best event possible each year.

While out and about today I noticed the carnival had pulled into town, beginning their setup process. I couldn't resist taking a few shots before the carnival got under way. The sign on the trailer says it all, beverage, sweets or popcorn of your choice.

You talk about tall. Fun to look at from the ground, you won't be seeing me on this ride anytime soon.
Now, this is more my speed, aren't they just too cute?

Look at that cute face, looks like a fun ride to me. I'm pretty sure they have weight limits, so that probably leaves me out of riding this darling cutie.
Mickey Mouse is the perfect choice for the leader of the parade.

I'm sure you're saying enough already of the elephants. I couldn't resist one last shot of these cuties.
I wonder what's hiding under the darling umbrella canopies? As cute as the umbrella top is, it must be another cute ride.
I see some pretty spiffy looking wheels and rims. Hmmmmm maybe a sports car ride?
Another food wagon. I spot the funnel cake sign. Yippee! I'm in heaven already.
More hidden fun.
One last shot of the ride we know you won't see me riding "ever".

Keep your fingers crossed I can sneak away on Saturday afternoon to take a few more pictures of all the carnival in full swing along with all the activity the Mushroom Festival creates.
Thank you for stopping by to say hello. Your sweet comments always touch our hearts. It is because of you I do what I do. Until next time.....Pin It
