~ Cleaned Up the Look ~

Now no one likes to show their grit and slimy bottles. I've seen around blog land for a while now there's a lot more attractive ways  to leave our dish washing soap on the counter. I've been wanting to try it for a while. Mr. P doesn't welcome change very well right now so have been hesitant about changing out the bottle. He hasn't noticed yet, we'll see if I'll be able to continue using the new addition.
Washed off many times a day it's still YUCKY looking.
Doesn't look too attractive
To the right you can see hanging in the wings is the new bottle I'm going to try.
See the difference? An attractive label free clear bottle.

An Olive Oil Bottle filled with dish washing soap, much more attractive.
Another small change is the addition of the silver tray to hold my candle and the daily calendar. The calendar has been around for many many years and is definitely showing it's age, should be replaced. But the memories it holds is priceless, so it got a place of honor on the silver tray.
We're in the deep freeze around here today, temps are now in the teens, wind continues to blow the little bit of snow we got last night. Winter has decided to hit the Mid West.

I love the look....but I am going to tell you, my husband would think it is olive oil...it wouldn't matter that it was sitting by the sink...I would have to label it...but that is just the way it is at my house!

Great idea! I just store mine under the sink bz I'm too lazy to be creative right now. You always have the ideas and capabilities of making things beautiful.

I love the soap in the glass bottle, Lynne, but I'm afraid I'd drop it and break it . :) Very classy look, however!!!

I love using silver trays to "house" items. What a great way to enjoy your precious calendar...and that great Mixture candle. That's an awesome line....and locally made, too, which makes it even better.

I switched from a croc pot of soup to one of stew!! :) My hubby likes that better....and this day seems to call for it. Good luck with your appt.

Lovely! With all the splashing around we do at the sink, pretty sure we'd put the candle out! :) I tried the olive oil bottle once for dish detergent, but my family was so sloppy with it, there was always detergent running down the side of the bottle and made it slippery, so I had to ditch that idea (can you tell there are lots of men in my house?). I'm sure you will have better luck with it than I did!

My daughter used a pretty bottle with a spout like that for a while - don't know if she still does or not. Great pictures of the cardinals. Don't think we have had as many this year - usually have quiet a few. 31 - few flurries and I need to get out. :( Uck!!

Ok, tell me the truth--does it drip all down the sides or not??? I finally put mine under the sink.

It's even cold here in Texas!!

A great idea of using the olive oil bottle, it looks great.

I don't like anything with labels attached sitting on my counter either.....

I have one of those on my kitchen sink and on the upstairs bar sink! They look SO much better, and they work quite well! Your hubby will get used to it. Mine didn't have to...he NEVER washes dishes! :-) Have a great weekend, Lynne!

I love your pretty bottle and the silver tray with the candle and calendar. I had my dish detergent in a bottle like that but found it took forever for enough of it to come out. Let us know what you think.

Dear Lynne...I gave up different dish soap dispenser idea's over the years. Cute dispensers..even ones like yours...(my daughter has one like yours) but at Christmas when I helped her in the kitchen..it still need to be rinsed off continually...as did mine.
I have since given up having the dish soap on the counter and just bring it up from below and use it when needed.
Hand soap is another thing..I do have a dispenser for that..but have a feeling it also will go under the sink.
The silver tray...well..that's another thing. It's up high and looks adorable.
Are you going to add a heart...or three? :) I am already doing the Valentine thing...I cannot seem to help myself. I DO love hearts!
HOW I love to see all the things you do, Lynne.
Now let me see...where is there a cute little silver tray like Lynne's!?? :)
Love and hugs,
Mona

Wow! That's a great idea! I have an olive oil bottle I don't use because it's a bear to clean and dry to refill. It'll be perfect for a dish soap bottle. Thanks. Now...to see if my hubby will like it. :)

That is a great idea, Lynne, and one I've been doing myself for about 10 years. I change the color of the soap each time I have to buy new just to add some color by the sink. Mine is a cut glass bottle and, even though it's by the sink, many people don't realize what it is. : )
