~ The Shop Gets a New Look ~

After living with something for so long we have a tendency to get use to the look of things. With the oppressive heat we've been having not a lot of time has been spent outside working in the gardens. While in the shop the other day I was scrutinizing the way things looked. I felt what better time to spruce things up. A few years back I did a lot of faux painting in our home along with many others. Tiring of the faux I painted all of the upstairs recently. It was definitely time to get rid of it down here in the shop.
With the help of the grandson last weekend we started breaking down the area surrounding the register. Starting with the base of the check out area, with drill in hand Bailey took the signs and shelving down for me. He is such a big help. :-))
Although this was "OK", it has always bothered me. Behind the doors that don't quite fit the opening leads to the storage underneath the front porch. Yes, a whopping  680 square feet of more storage. Yippee!! This was and still is one of those "round to it's"! Most of you know the "round to it's"  list around here is long and growing. I try to do what I can with the skills I have, limited as they may be, my skills have certainly taken on a new direction these past few years.
The two cabinets that make up the wrapping area are from a mixed set. Counter tops don't match as well as the stained fronts.
When I first thought of painting, I had originally planned to go with the Furry Otter tail, the beautiful shade of fawn I had used through out the house. Once I got it on the wall, it just didn't trip my trigger. I was wanting something a bit more fun, up beat something not quite the norm for me.
Although a very pretty color, it was just a shade on the "boring" side. :-))
Black shelving full of some of my things, definitely needing to be painted. Things needed to be edited down and rearranged.

And so we begin, a nice shade of creamy white, well.... actually several coats of creamy white. Yes, I've been painting and painting and painting. :-))
I haven't quite decided whether to put the shelf back in front of the register or not. I've cut a piece to fit the length of the counter, will paint it the same creamy color. It truly opens things up, however, the shelf was perfect to sit your purse on, write a check etc.
The barn board candle shelving, got a slight whitewash. With the whitewashing of the shelves the candle display will pop a bit more. I'm looking forward to adding the new candle line when it comes in. :-))

TA DAH !!!!!
What do you think? Are you shocked? Can you believe this gorgeous color? Yes, I've stepped outside of the box. This beautiful shade is called Twilight by Mary Carol Garrity, the deepest shade of navy. I've wanted to use this color for so long, just couldn't figure out where. You see unfortunately, I'm out of rooms upstairs. lol.
Counters and shelving all get the new look with Creamy White paint.
The deep shade of Twilight seems to expand and push back the walls, giving the feeling of more space. If you look under the fall foliage you can see the piece of trim I cut to fully cover the space, giving it more of a finished look.
With it all being one color now, it appears as though I intended  for there to be a recessed area in the wall. You know I did. :-))
The beauty of the deep Twilight color makes the product pop. I wish you were here to see the beauty of this color, it is so rich and warm looking. :-))
Even the counter tops got several coats of the Creamy White, yet again giving the area a bit more of a flow and finished look.

I'm not sure if I'm going to paint the scale or not. For the moment I'm enjoying the bit of pop the light green color has. Changed out with foliage of the season, at times you don't even see the bottom of the scales. What are your thoughts? Would you paint it Creamy White or leave it the soft shade of green?

And there you have it, the redo behind the counter in the shop. I am loving the change and the feeling it evokes as you walk in. Then again I'm a bit on the biased side. lol I hope you enjoyed seeing just another area of where I spend a lot of my time, I sure enjoyed having you pop in.

Isn't this the color MCG has in her dining room? The first time I saw her dining room in person, I fell in love with the dark blue color. I should really paint our dining room that color, since I've always loved it. Love her dining room too!

Your shop is really looking good Lynne. Twilight is perfect!

Wow! I really like that Twilight with the creamy white. I'm undecided on the scale. I think I like the green, but I think you're going to have to live with it awhile to see. I'm thinking that if you paint it, it should be another accent colour, not white.
