More Signs of Spring and a Few Surprises

Saturday in our part of Missouri was gorgeous. A slight breeze in the air. Perfect for being outside doing a bit of clean up of what the hard winter had left behind. I got quite a bit of clean up done and enjoyed the beauty of the new buds coming out on all the trees. Little did I know what Sunday evening was going to bring. The weather forecast was for heavy rains, hail and winds gusting to over 70 mph. Well, guess what? Yes you got it. We got all of that and this is what it left in it's wake.
Torn siding off the north side of the house.
Flapping shingles in the wind.

Lattice work ripped off the pergola that hangs over the shop entrance.

More soffit trim missing off the east side of the house.

I'd much rather be looking at the buds coming to life then the mess I cleaned up. I've called the insurance adjuster, just waiting for them to get back to see how they're going to handle it. It could have been much worse. Today, the sun is shining and the temperatures are climbing. I believe Spring may have decided to stick around for awhile.

Hi Lynne...

Ohhh nooo!!! I'm so sorry about the damage that your weather has done to your beautiful home, sweet friend! Wicked weather this time of the year! We have been having wind storms like this one as well! There were days when all you could hear was the wind howling and the siding of our house banging! I know how you feel! Well dear friend, I do hope that your insurance will cover the damage! It's that time of the year when we want to start sprucing up the exterior of our homes and yards! Of course, I love your place! You have such a fabulous "spread" there! Sending good thoughts and much prayer your way, Lynne! Hopefully spring is moving in and pushing the old winter out!!!

Just wanted to come by to say hello! I hope that my note is finding you well (otherwise...from the damage)!

Love ya,
Chari

Oh Lynne..... so sorry to hear of your wind damage, .... you didn't need this at all!!!
70 mile winds sounds very scary and awful.

I hope the weather stays calm and you can enjoy some beautiful spring weather.

I think of you often and keep you in my prayers.

Oh Lynne Sweetie...
I am SO sorry to see what the storm has done. It is so discouraging when we work so hard to make our houses a home. I do not miss the storms we had in Oklahoma. That is one of the things I love most about the desert. No high winds and tornadoes. (well not like we did back home anyway).

Hopefully your insurance will repair everything, and you will be all new again soon.

Love seeing the trees bud. That tells me your Spring is coming soon sweetie.

A beautiful share. Many hugs and much love to you sweet friend, Sherry

I'm glad everyone is alright. We had terrible storms move through last night too. It's a good idea to document the damage with photos on your blog too if it's ever needed in the future.

Blogger is acting up, I tried earler to leave a comment and it just twirled forever..... XO, Pinky

Hi Lynne...
The same thing happened here in California and our neighbor across the street had roof damage..more rain is on the way for Saturday..but..we are feeling all snug and smug with our new roof..and it faired well in the high winds.
You folks really got hit pretty hard! There was some tree damage..but nothing of significance. Spring, though not my favorite time of year is still so wonderful! Everything is blooming. I loved the pictures of the budding tree's. Just beautiful.

I also want to tell you that I love being alerted that you have a new post up...fantastic! This way I can hop from my email directly to you and not get sidetracked! WONDERFUL!! :)

Sorry for the damage, Lynne. We had a mild tornado pass through here two weeks ago and our patio umbrella flew over the roof into the front yard and was naturally damaged. But I was thankful that it was all tha was damaged. Take care. Your trees are looking good....Christine
