This Could Be the Start of Something

The beauty of a plant is found in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone cares for the yucca plant. I on the other hand, find it's beauty incredible, even though it is short lived.
Welcome to Metamorphosis Monday. It has been quite a while since I've had anything to post to be able to join in this fun party, I'm hoping this qualifies and I'm not thrown out on my ear.. lol Hosted each week by Susan from Between Naps on the Porch.
Since I've started blogging I find myself constantly with a camera in my hand. I thought it would be great this year to capture the beauty of the yucca starting to bloom this year. I'm always amazed how unattractive they are when the stalk takes on the blooms.

Slowly, but surely their pods start to fill in and the beauty slowly starts emerging.
This beauty is reaching for the gorgeous blue skies. Unlike today, we have more clouds and rains promised.

Yucca is a genus of perennial shrubs and trees in the agave family, Agavaceae. Its 40-50 species are notable for their rosettes of evergreen, tough, sword-shaped leaves and large terminal panicles of white or whitish flowers. They are native to the hot and dry (arid) parts of North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Early reports of the species were confused with the cassava (Manihot esculenta).[2] Consequently, Linnaeus mistakenly derived the generic name from the Carib word for the latter, yuca.[3] You can go here for more information on the yucca plant.

After only a couple of days or so, the true beauty of the plant comes to life. I'll hush for a bit so you can enjoy the beauty as I saw it the day I took these pictures. :-))

As the rains are on the horizon once again today, these beautiful blooms won't last much longer. I'm glad I was able to capture the blooming process from start to finish this year, I hope you enjoyed it as well. Susan, as always thank you for hosting this fun party each week.
hugs ~lynne~

Your Yuccas are pretty and healthy looking. There are so many plants that I wished the blooms would last longer.

Hi Lynne! Your yucca looks so pretty in full bloom! We had it in my backyard when I was growing up. I remember looking out of my bedroom window as a child and watching the fireflies blinking around those white blooms in the twilight! Thaks for reminding me! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie

Hi Lynne, what a treat to watch the yucca bloom. Gorgeous! You asked about my pillows. I made them all - got the fabric locally. The black floral print is called "Arabella" 2009 Covington Fabric and Design. The other two fabrics coordinate with it, but I couldn't find a name on the edge of them. They are all made for outdoor. If you sew and want the name of the store, leave me a comment and I'll get that for you. Thanks for stopping by! Linda

It's really different to see them growing somewhere so green! The are grown in front yards and in medians here in Las Vegas. I never saw them as so beautiful, but your close-ups of the flowers will cause me to take another look next time!

When I was a kid, my parents planted a yucca plant on each side of the sidewalk (the end close to the street)leading up to our front door. I remember how lovely they were when they bloomed. Mom also planted nasturtiums on both sides of that sidewalk....all the way to our front steps! Thanks for jogging some great childhood memories!

Guess what! I think the rain is over for today! We had horrible lightning last night...lost our cable, but not the electricity!

Have a wonderful day! dana

How are you , Lynne? It is so nice to hear from you. Your yucca flowers are gorgeous, I don't believe I have seen them before. I thought yucca is just a plant with no flowers...Christine

My parents used to have these surrounding their pool. It was always amazing to watch them grow and grow and grow...and then finally bloom into such beauty. Thanks for reminding me.
