A Bit of Beauty on A Cloudy Day

Last Sunday was a beautiful fall day in our area of the country. A bit on the crisp side, perfect for being outside. I got busy shortly after 1 mowing the yard. I'm hoping this is the last mowing of the season. :-)) While walking back from putting the mower up, I discovered the Clematis was starting to bloom once again. About a month ago I clipped it as close to the ground as I could. For whatever reason about mid-season it always starts to get a bit sad looking. The middle seems to die out while the rest thrives. Do any of you have this problem? If so, I would love for you to tell me what I can do to help prevent this next year.

Now, these pictures could have waited until Outdoor Wednesday, but I was anxious to show you their beauty. lol :-)) Good blogger that I am, I quickly went in and got my camera to take a few shots of this late beauty.

The intensity of the color is incredible.

It almost appears as if I've staged these two blooms, but this is the way they were laying.

Mother Nature at it's best.

If the early frost doesn't hit , we might be fortunate to have a few more blooms this season.Standing at attention. I see we have a visitor joining us.My ever faithful "outside" companion Murphy followed me step by step as I took these shots.
It's very cold and cloudy here today, I hope this brought a bit of sunshine your way.
Don't forget to swing back by for yet another update to the give away basket. I can hardly believe it's almost here.. Can't wait to reveal "all" of the goodies to you. :-))
hugs ~lynne~

Beautiful flowers - thanks for sharing with us. Sorry no help on the Clematis. Murphy looks like a sweetie. We have had sunshine today and in the 60's, but the last couple of days were cool, gray and dreary. Have a great week.

my goodness Lynne - those pictures could be used as postcards!! They are simply breathtaking!!! Honestly!!

I have often thought about planting clamatis by my kitchen window. here in Philly burbs the houses are quit close to one another & I wanted to put up a trellis & let these grow all over it.
After these pics who could resist.
Thank you so much for sharing.
always a treat!! ;)

Good morning Lynne,

It's a short sleeve day here in south Texas. A bit drizzly, but we welcome the moisture.

Your flowers and your dog, Murphy are so beautiful!

Have a good day!!

Just stopping by to say Hi - the flowers are simply breathtaking. Have you ever heard of "clematis wilt"? It seems to come over them almost over night - that could be the only thing that comes to mind, but I don't think they recover from it like your's seems to do - other than that I have no idea. I've always loved a clematis, just don't ever seem to have any luck with them. I'll just enjoy yours!

Happy Monday -

Hi Lynne! I'm so sorry I have not been around much. This past 30 days has been non stop GO for me with my silk floral show being two weekends plus many other things going on I had to attend to. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving comments! I ALWAYS appreciate that and love having you come by! Oh, yes, the beauty of these flowers come through loud and clear! I love clematis and it's extra pretty to see them hugging the ground like this. What a pretty color. Unfortunately, we have already had snow! :( We do still have color with our mums but everything else is really sad looking as in black!
Come see me again soon! Donna

Mornin' Dearheart...

Just wanted to stop in and say hello and see how you've been! Was wondering how Bill is doing? We've had our first snow of the season already and the damp, cold has my bones hurting! Hmmm...I'm thinking that this could be a long winter! It started snowing last Saturday...yep, it's way too early! Hehe! And we got about 8"...very unusual for a "first snow"! Are ya'll still having really nice weather?

Okay, I have never seen clematis growing before...are these beautiful lavender flowers...clematis? They're gorgeous...and the color is sooo beautiful!!! Your photos are gorgeous...magazine worthy for sure!!! Loved seeing your buddy Murphy...he sure is a handsome fella!!!

Well Darlin'...just thinking about you and it had been awhile since we've visited! I left you a note on your tablescape post too! Take care Sweetie...sending you lots of love and all my prayers!!!

Your clematis is absolutely lovely. Your post is making me want to put down the paintbrush and stoll in my lonely, forgotten gardens.
