Old English and I get busy :-)

Although the sun is shining brightly this morning it's a bit deceiving. The winds are howling, the temperature has dropped a mere 25 degrees in the last 2 hours. Promising to dip to zero and below. We're presently sitting at a "very" cold 10 above. Yikes! That's cold in any one's book. NO... this isn't a weather forecast just wanted those that have 60 and above to know I'm a bit on the jealous side. :-) Inside I have a sick hubby and I'm trying to get a few things done. After working away from home the last couple of days you know there is "always" something "needing" to be done. So, while I'm picking up, cleaning and dusting.. Old English and I are the "best of friends", :-) I try to get a bit creative and change things up a bit. I love the cloche domes, glass are any other kind of dome. So, I thought the bunny would look darling underneath. Almost like he's being protective from the outside world and the cold winds.

This darling plate is done by the artist Marjolein Bastin. A few years ago Mr. P. did some work around her home she was building in our area. I was fortunate to be able to tour that home. Now, girls.. I wish I could say I had pictures. Unfortunately I don't. That was way before blogger days, and a digital camera came into my home. lol She has wonderful products. Her paintings are natured inspired and so life like. Her studio was glassed on 3 walls and looked out onto the small lake my husband had built for her. Her husband gave the lake as a Valentines gift that year.. Some gift huh? She could watch the birds land and set in the trees and paint away. She originates from Holland and has many homes here and the Caymen Islands. At the time she was contracted strictly to Hallmark Cards. Now she has taken on many other ventures, Lang being one of them. If you'd like to learn more about Marjolein head over to this website you can read more about her amazing life. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjolein_Bastin

So, while the winds still howl and anything that isn't nailed down flies away I'll be inside doing some much needed "deep" cleaning. I hope you find time today to shake things up around your home and bring a bit of spring in if it's dark and gloomy in your area. hugs ~lynne~

The plate is lovely. Can you imagine a LAKE for Valentines Day? It must have been some home. Please try to stay warm. We can almost see the pavement on our street which we haven't been able to since before Christmas.

Have a happy day!

HI Lynne, your display is so cute and springy looking. I have a little question. Are you sure that is a bunny...cuz from the picture it looks like a racoon. Still cute...just wondering!!

Oh Lynne...so sorry your hubby is sick!Hope he feels better soon! I love your bunny and your plate! We are expecting 13 degrees tomorrow night and for us Southerners, that's awfully darn cold! Stay warm...Debbie

Hi, Lynne,
We're a balmy 43 degrees right now here in the NC mountains, but later this week it's supposed to get down in the single digits with a below 0 wind chill.....and we're in the South!! I really feel for all of ya'll in the REALLY cold parts of the country. I'm sorry your dear hubby isn't well, and know how difficult is is to find the joy in life when your loved ones are ailing. It does help to feed your soul with the little things like the adorable little vignettes that you put together, a good cup of tea, or watching a cute chickadee at the feeder. You have to take care of yourself, so that you are able to give those you love what they need. Don't let your own well run dry.
Hugs,
Barbara

Hi Lynne! Oh the bunny look so cute under there with that little smile on his face. And that pretty plate...I think someone is wishing for some spring! :) I know - I am sorry - I am one of those whose temps are reaching close to the
80's! Can you believe it for January? Thanks for stopping by again - glad you like the chair & the trays. I know what you mean - once I find a new item to "collect" I tend to get a little obsessed! Seeing them everywhere I go and having to bring them home with me! Tunnel vision! Hope your Hubby feels better soon & you stay warm. ~ Laurie

Lynne, your display is very cute! You've done such a good job with it! Here's hoping you stay nice and warm on this cold night. We're still up in the fifties (I'm not in St. Augustine tonight), but I understand it's cold there... in the mid to upper 40's. So it looks like we're all getting a bit of the chill.

XO,

Sheila

Sure hope your DH is feeling better since his visit to the Doctor. He is now on my prayer list. Whatever is going around is really nasty. I got sick around Thanksgiving and really just started to get better last week.

My DH made a wonderful fire tonight to fight off the chill. Thank goodness it's nowhere near as cold as you are experiencing, but pretty cold for Central Georgia. They are projecting a low of 15 raw temp on Friday night with a possible wind chill (feels like) of 0 or below depending on the wind velocity.

Love the vignette you displayed, makes me think of spring and Easter bunnies. If you clean too much, you might give some of us a bad name.

Lynne (lynnesgiftsfromtheheart) said...

Glenda, what a sweet thing for you hubby to do. I know the fire felt wonderful. Perfect for cozying up with a good book. Thanks for putting hubby on the prayer list.. We can't have too many of those..

Lynne, so sorry your sweet hubby is under the weather. Brrrrr that sounds like some cold weather you've got there. It was 77 here yesterday, wish I could blow some of our warmth over your way. Your vignettes are always so lovely and you have so many beautiful things. Hope you are taking care of yourself too. Love, Cindy

I woke up to tons of fog and an inversion but it's pretty much burned off now. I'm sorry it's so dang cold for you right now. I could tolerate the winter more if it weren't so cold and had ice! I could even live with the snow if it came in smaller increments! You have some beautiful things! I love the way Old English makes everything look. I need to use it on my cabinets soon. The winter dries the wood out so bad.

Lynne (lynnesgiftsfromtheheart) said...

Cindy, thanks for swinging by. Your 77 sounds pretty good right about now.. It was a -10 below this morning at 5. Now, we're having a heat wave of 2 above... thank goodness I have the shop and can stay in... hugs ~lynne~

Old English also has a product called Lemon Oil that will help nourish your wood cabinets and furniture, if you don't need the scratch cover capabilities.

If you don't need "scratch cover", onlymehere, you might want to give it a try.
