Silver Mania

My Christmas decor usually leans toward the Traditional Style. Websters Dictionary says, Practices custom passed down from one generation to another. I guess you could say that's me all over. I like using things I've had for years hoping to pass them down to my daughter. That poor girl has no clue as to how much is going to be passed down. lol Last year I stepped out of my comfort zone and went over the top in the dining room with a new look..that's a post for another day. While hauling up boxes and boxes the other day I remembered I had all of these great silver decorations. But I had no table runner that would be just perfect. So today at work I ran across this beautiful table runner. And to me it looked like something that might have been passed down through the years. I could hardly wait to get home to put it together. I had shopped at Hobby Lobby many weeks ago and ran across these wonderful candle holders. They are out of the Robert Stanley collection. They had all kinds of wonderful ornaments to adorn any sized shaped tree. Large or small. I already had quite a few silver and mercury ornaments. Then I remembered this gorgeous silver compote. Shazam !! a centerpiece for the table came to life.

Oops!! Nothing on the hutch shelves yet..ummm I'm so far behind.

I've gone over the top the last couple of years with anything wildlife. I spotted these cute birds and added them to the edge of the compote.

I believe it's full to over flowing with silver, mercury and cut glass ornaments. Close up of ornaments .

I had a ball this evening working on the vignette. I have another room I can envision all of this silver in. Stay tuned...If you girls will excuse me I must go and have my popcorn break. hugs ~lynne~

If you ever figure out how to bottle that energy you have please put me down for a case. The old folks use to say "I've got a case of the can't help its". And that's the way I feel. I know what I need to be doing, but just can't find the energy. Sure am glad you can though, because this arrangement just says holiday. Hope today goes really well for you.

Sweet Glenda, I always love when you swing in. The girls at work say the same thing. One is older and one is quite a bit younger and they are amazed at the ground I can cover. lol... I hope "you" have a super day...hugs ~lynne~

Lynne, you do the best vignettes. I love this. Those are beautiful ornaments in the silver bowl and that table runner does look like something that would have been handed down from your mother. So pretty. laurie

Oh Lynne..You really have an eye for putting things together. Your centerpiece looks so pretty! I've gotta get me some of your popcorn. Maybe that would light a fire under me and I would get busy decorating. Now I'm starting to think that if I wait long enough, it will be over. All you gals will be whining about taking it all down while I relax lol...Have a great day...Debbie

This is so beautiful Lynne! I wanted to do a similar ornament arrangement in a crystal punchbowl, but the holidays will be over before the dining is painted, the ladder & drop cloths picked up, and I go over to mom's house to pick up the punchbowl! Does that tell you how far behind I am with the decorating? ♥ Diane

Hi Lynne,

I was here yesterday leaving you a comment on your beautiful silver decorations - but then I got an error message after clicking the post button. I was hoping it had gone through but I guess it got lost in cyberspace... Your room looks so elegant and classic but very current too! Those ornaments & silver compote are just stunning and the table topper just ties it all together. But you are only teasing us here! I was laughing at your comment about passing all the stuff down to your daughter..well couldn't you just say I was a long lost cousin and put my name on that silver compote? ;) Beautiful display as always! Take care. ~ Laurie

Hi Lynne, Oops. Sorry for the confusion. I posted it on RMS and then took it down after a few hours. I can't really explain why. Nothing bad happened or anything like that. I just got a strange vibe over there last night. Thanks for coming to check it out anyway. You're the best. I'm working on a post right now for my blog that I've had in mind since I first started this. I'm so bad at computer stuff though. I'll see if I can get it done or not. LOL!
Have a great evening. ~Melissa :)

Evening, Lynne! Oh, your silverness is so beautiful and elegant. Your table runner is just perfect, but darling, please don't turn your back, you may miss a couple of reindeer candlesticks! lol
Be a sweetie and thanks for popping in to see me,
Shelia ;)

Lynne- this blog entry is wonderful! Those candlesticks are wonderful!!

It looks like maybe you figured out the picture size on your header for it looks wonderful. I do edit my pictures in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and resize to a size that I think others would be able to look at or for the header maybe 640 X 480 pixels(large web size suggestion on my program).

Don't know if you know about clicking on pictures to enlarge on your blog itself- I couldn't figure this out as sometimes they would enlarge and then other times not. Rhonda at Southern Hospitality had a blog tutorial on this- the address to go to to read it is http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-spirit.html

Can't wait to see more of your Christmasy house!!

Blessings
