Let's shed some light on the subject !!

I'm not sure when this love affair or fetish began. Some may even call it an obsession. My palms get moist, the heart starts skipping beats and the eyes light up. Some may say I need an intervention. Somewhere there's a doctor with the right prescription. Thankfully, I'm not really interested in finding a cure. I'm not sure when the symptoms started. I have no memory of the first time I noticed there was a problem. I just know the problem continues to this day.
The pain seems to go away once I click the switch on and light shines against the wall.. Yes, folks it's my obsession with lamps..and many of you know it's a huge one. I'll try and keep this tour short. I'll show you just a few of them..this post !! :-) I don't want to loose my audience before it grows. lol

This darling lamp sits in the window sill and gets turned on nightly. The glow from outside is wonderful. It fits in beautifully with the rooster fetish I have. Ok.. that's for another post..lol

I'm sure many of you remember this room when I posted it on RMS. I thought it was screaming for a bit of bling. Some crystals, and some eye candy for the eyes. I'm sure you get the picture. I found this beauty at J.C. Penney's and went straight to the website and hit send..naturally they were having free shipping or I would have had to wait for this gorgeous thing to come.. I think it's the perfect finishing touch the room needed. OK.. am I trying to convince myself or you? lol

Again with the roosters? I know, I know.. But I just couldn't resist. This gorgeous specimen is one of a kind in my book. The base is marble and the rooster is a type of metal. The whole lamp is quite heavy. I found him at Hobby Lobby about 4 years ago. Isn't he a beauty? He has a roving fever and moves around the kitchen on a regular basis.

Okay, I get it. You're tired of the roosters that have invaded the kitchen. But again, this lamp is so unique. He has such attitude, and puts off the most wonderful glow. The picture doesn't show the incredible details on the shade. I'm not sure what stole my heart first the shade or the rooster. It just had to come home with me.. :-)

Check these beauties out. The store I work for part time was selling them a couple of years ago. The guys were moving them and dropped them. 'CRASH' down they went and looked beyond repair. I was asked if I wanted them, and with a resounding "yes" ! I brought them home and worked them like a jigsaw puzzle to put them back together. The only thing left was to find the perfect shade. I sell these wonderful sleeves in the shop. And I thought for the shape of the lamp it screamed marble. So, I tried this gold marble sleeve and they fit perfectly. I then thought a bit more bling was needed and added the beads.. these particular beads are in the brown tones, but I carry some pearl, red and two toned brown ones as well. Didn't they turn out great for a trash to treasure find?

Now Miss Scooter had had all the picture taking she could handle. She sat patiently while DH cut up some ham hoping he would "accidentally" drop a piece her way..naturally he did. :-)
I hope you enjoyed this "short" tour of some of my favorite lamps. If you have a favorite or favorites I would love to see them. No.. I promise not to "borrow" them.. :-) Doesn't mean I won't be obsessing over your lamp or lamps though ! :-)

Good Morning Lynne,

Well, we are still having problems with the cable and no phone for three days now. I hope they got the problem fixed after all these days. I find myself doing things in such a hurry when I'm on here, because the cable keeps going off. My emails are so piled up, it will take me half a day just to go thru them.

Yes, I remember this room. I told you that I hope to do black and white with the toile in the lt. green bedroom we have. I envy the rooster lamps, I would like one for my desk in the kitchen. I'll have to go back and look again.

Have a great day.

Lynne, as you know, I am a lamp lover too. One of the smartest things I did when we remodeled this house, was to put some outlets on light switches. I can walk in and turn on numerous lamps with one flip of the switch. (It also helps when I'm going to bed and have to turn them off.) All of your lamps are so pretty, and I love all of the roosters too. I also love this Christmas look for your blog. laurie

Well lady you convinced me many moons ago. You definitely made the right selection to finish off this gorgeous room. I still love the tea service displayed on your bed-tray. In fact, I can't find anything in the room I don't love.
The rooster lamps are eye catching as well, but there is just something magical about this room. Glad to see the chocolates are not there to tempt Miss Scooter.

Gm Lynne, first I must mention I found it!Now, is it possible to order? Now for the Lamp Obsession. I have the same disorder. It is a family and friends joke about I never met a lamp I did'nt like. If I go to Homegoods my sweet hubby always say, "no more Lamps",One night he counted 9 lamps he had to turn off before he could go to bed. I always use low wattage or refrigerator bulbs because I love that candle glow look. Oh my , I think my palms are starting to sweat. Haha! Have a wonderful day, and I am coveting the transferware platter. Hugs Kathysue

Well, someone else has this 'habit' too! Maybe we could form some type of club, or support group! I have lamps everywhere! (closets, basement, under the stairs just waiting for that perfect spot). Actually I think you may have me beat. You got it bad girl. They are lovely though. ~Cindy~

Hi Lynne,

You have such a good "eye" for perfect lamps! Your trash to treasure lamp is awesome! I'm not a rooster person, but between you & Rose, I'm looking at roosters now....

I bought a pair of lamps at Home Goods for the guest bedroom this week. I'll do a post whenever we pick up the rest of the bedroom furniture I'm moving from Mom's house.

Miss Scooter has that same beggy look on her little face that Murphy has about a million times a day. I love those babies! :0}

*Hand raised in the air* I too am a lamp-o-holic.....And if it has hanging crystals? And any kind of french flavor? Well I MUST have it!! I can't help myself...And I don't want to! I love lamps so much I have placed them in areas with no hope of their ever being plugged in...I don't care, I just LOVE them sooo much!! My DH would say I really DO need a 12 step program!....And not just for lamps either....there's chairs...chandeliers....spelter figures....art nouveau boxes...Well you get the picture. But Lynne, one lamp I don't have is a rooster. How is that possible? It's a lamp and french.....I must address this problem immediately!!*winks* And I love all of yours! And you wouldn't mind sparing just one, would ya? Vanna

Oh Lynne! you have Gorgeous lamps! And I too was coveting that crystal oozing one in the Jcp catalog!! And those lamps that got dropped..!? Beautiful!! And who could resist rooster lamps?! Not me!:) I love going to Homegoods and perusing the lamp section. Fully knowing that I have no place for another beauty but I still torture myself nonetheless! I was reading your profile and you ARE a busy girl! I hope you found time to read your decorating magazines and enjoy that cup of coffee. That's my most favorite thing to do. I even found a little stool to pull up along side the couch so while I am lounging, perusing the mags - I don't have to reach too far for my cup! You and I need to read those books together and then do some lamp shopping! :) Thanks for sharing and I DO WANT to see MORE! Take care. ~ Laurie

You are so funny with your lamps, Lynne and I think I am catching your disease. LOL. I wanted to tell you that I put my snowman sleeve out and it is so pretty. I am not quite ready to finish X'mas decorating yet but I took out my fall decor from the dining room and replaced my pr. of candelabra to look Christmassy. It's a start. I had to have a reason to take the snowman lamp out....LOL. I love all your lamps but you did not show my favorite, the bunny lamp!...Christine
